I know it's a bit early....

But has anyone called their local dealer or a dealer they've dealt with and "pre-ordered" themselves a Z28 for whenever they're released?

Well not necessarily to build the one you want, just so that when the dealership hears anything about it they'll call you so you can reserve your spot to get one. It was just a question...

There are quite a few dealers that have lists going just incase the Z/28 comes out. I have been on one of the lists for about 8 months now

And how is that different than the many who signed up 2010 in 2008 or earlier?

Were they retards?

moreso the dealers that ripped off those "pre-order" customers by charging outlandish amounts of money to hold the "#1" spot on a list.... when the dealer didnt even know what their allocation was going to be at that time.

Thing is... Z/28 is just a trim.
It's not gonna be the global hoopla that the Camaro's introduction was because it's.. well.. a Camaro.

Most people out there don't know the difference between an RS or an SS. It's a Camaro. A rep at the Camaro display at the Edmonton motor show.. a guy directly from GM in Oshawa didn't even know that there was a difference between the noses of the V6s and the V8s!

There won't be back-order issues with this like there was with the Camaro's introduction last spring. I suspect things should run much, much smoother.
Z/28 will be highly sought after by enthusiasts, but tormenting dealers now?

Nah.

Well it's not necessarily "tormenting" them, I was thinking more along the lines for informational purposes. Call them, give them your name and number and ask them to call you as soon as they hear anything and by the time they call you should pretty much have your mind made up on weather or not you want one so you could take it from there. I was considering doing it but I haven't gotten to it yet. I was wondering how surprised the dealer would be just to hear someone calling about it already.

I took the advice Scott gave me a couple of weeks ago. That is why I contacted my dealer now. If he were closer, I would have ordered one from him.

Nah.
:( While I don't really think Z28 will have as big an introduction as Camaro has, I think you're being a little dismissive. JMO... I agree that there isn't going to be as big a line, out the door, for enthusiasts for Z28; I think that's mostly going to be because of price and the fact the V6 and SSs are such good cars already. Many people are rightly content with the Camaros they have now and I still think that it's likely that one can build an SS that at least matches the performance of Z28 (whenever information is confirmed and released).

I talked with two dealers the other day regarding the Z/28. Both dealers gave me there first ordered Z/28's if I wanted them at sticker. The one dealer missed out on my last Chevy purchase so they want me back, and the other dealer wants to keep me as a customer! I am in a good place When I was at Barrett-Jackson in January I asked a certain GM Camaro employee who will go nameless, if I should buy a Z06 now or wait for the Z/28? His responce was "How long can you wait"

Do not pre-order a car that does not yet exist.

Even if I were selling you the car, I would not want you to pre-order a vehicle until you were certain that the vehicle fits your needs and driving behavior. You need a product demonstration before you commit to buying.

I own one of each generation Z28 ever built and I am sure that if history repeats itself the new Z/28 should be the best Z/28 ever! My good friend Chuck and I were talking about this the other day. He said to me, "Why are you still messing around with those old Camaro's" I said because the new Z/28 has not come out yet! He said how will you know you like it? I said " You had a original Shelby back in the 60's right? He said yea, I said did you test drive your 2008 Shelby before you bought it? He said, No! Hence my point. Some things in life you know they are only going to get better. Z/28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:w 00t:

I offered to put a deposit down and they said I was a good enough customer that they didn't need one. Good Dealership!
