I'll check my literature from LPE when I get home. I think it was 5w-50 in the summer and something different in the winter.

Yep, 15W50 is very thick, but they're right, that is what LPE recommends and given their reputation and knowledge I'd stick with that for built Maggie engines.

Ok, what are the consequences of running the stock recommended weight oil in a supercharged car? I know it can't be good, but I'm just wondering how bad.

Gm bearings are soft

Detonation is hard on bearings

More load on the bearings than what gm intended

have you seen 5w-30 at 220-240 degrees?

Yup... it's like water.....

the thicker oil (15W50) sticks to parts better.

Crap, I just got my oil changed before I put the s/c on. Maybe I'll change it again before summer hits with those 90+ temps.

Xw-XX, can someone explain to me what all this numbers mean. And so, if I am running a sc ss, then I should be using 15-50?

15W50 is this:

15 Weight (when cold) 50 (weight when warm.)

The W is for the word "weight" which is used to seperate the viscosity level of the oil from when it's measured cold and hot.
