I plan on getting the RS package on my new 'maro and that includes HID headlights. My questions if you so choose to answer one or all of them is can I make the fog lights HID too? Is that legal? and Do the fog lamps automatically run at night with the headlights? I ask these questions because I think it looks quite tacky when a car has HID headlights but normal Halogen fog lights that run at the same time. Thanks in advance for any answers I get. They are all greatly appreciated.

i cant say for sure but i know that a lot of gm vehicles have similiar controls. that said my colorado pickup has a seperate button to turn on the fogs
and with the right inverters, lenses and bulbs you can make anything have hid's

Running fogs in perfect weather is tacky anyways and if you are using them when appropriate nobody will know what you are driving anyways.

So I guess I am tacky, I like the way my truck looks with fog lights on, no matter the weather.

Although it may look tacky, some car's fogs come on with the headlights and dont have a seperate way to turn them off. And I have to agree with Sierra. I dig the way a car looks coming head on with four lights! All the better to hunt down those Rustangs and Challenges at night

In many places it is against the law to run fog lights or driving lights in traffic, same as it is to run with your bright lights on.
Barney Fife may have had a fight with Thelma Lou and is in a bad mood and want to give someone a ticket and you may be him LOL

I drive my envoy every day with the Fog lights on and have never been ticketed in 6 years.i would rather people know im there, that way they dont lane change into me.Plus if fog lights are aimed correctly they dont shine into some ones rear view.

I would prefer if GM gave us the option to choose when, and when not to have our DRLs(or similar) on or off.
I want to be in control

Do you never leave Vegas? I live in LA and never get fog around where I live, but whenever I go up north there is a good chance I'll hit fog.

I think they look tackey too if they don't match the headlights.
Personally, I'm expecting to replace the foglights with some PIAAs or something. I've always liked driving lights better to illuminate the road and have run PIAAs on my '95 and '02. There are obvious choices in this regard and different light colors. I'm just planning on getting super whites that match the HIDs better

not the same for me.
. Dude when I lived in Germany I had more trouble over there from the fog I lost count. Not to mention the military installation I was at was on the side of a mountain. Fog at least two to three days per weeks.

You can bet on it that if the car has HID lamps it will NOT have HID fogs and they will look yellow'er compared to the HID. Almost all ca makers do this.
My Acura CL had this, Audi, etc. If you have a halogen headlamp they will match well but once you go HID they will look off. I bought a set of Polarg M6's for my fogs in the Acura and they matched the HID extremely well b/c they burned much brighter. They won't last as long but i too agree that HIDs with standard fogs looks terrible |

I leave my fogs on all of the time. I am probably the least picky person on this site, but the one thing about the Camaro that I somewhat dislike about the fogs, at least on the SS, are farther apart than the regular headlights, so I might not use them as often. I think the certain Pontiacs with super spread apart fogs look fugly. Also, dimmer yellow lights supposedly allow you to see better in the fog. I wouldn't know because I have never driven in thick fog let alone with yellow lights.

I've noticed that the Camero and C5 Corvette have almost identical foglamp designs with the exception that the cameros have the bulb mounted from the underside.
Does anyone have an output pic (against a wall) of the patten of your foglights? If i can get a set of Camero fogs to work on my vette, I will be most pleased. thanks. |
