Onstar fine print

I just read the Onstar agreement fine print. It they have your credit card on file (for example if you purchased extra minutes) you will be automatically billed for your next subscription term when the time comes. This was confirmed by an onstar rep. Fortunantely, they will remove your credit card information if you request it.

It's your call whether you want or need Onstar. If you don't want the service to automatically renew then you should take action to avoid unwanted billings.

They told me that on the phone when I activated my service.

Not sure if that is common or not, but they didn't hide it.

This is an old trick by lots of companies. I didn't even pay for the "discounted" phone minutes when I first signed on so they don't have that information. The cheapy deal is how they hook you and get your information to begin with. Not worth the hassle for a car I drive a few times a month right now.

Getting lost is half the fun; it gives you more time to drive around in your 'maro
No CC from me.
I really despise this 'Opt Out' notion the the Credit Industry has foisted upon us,
it should be 'Opt In'.

Hey, it's just an FYI for those like me that missed that fine print. My unit has been disconnected and I don't want to receive a bill after I've completely forgotten about Onstar.

I'll admitt that they were pretty good about removing the credit card infomation without a hassle.

I didn't turn on the free year.. I HATE ONSTAR.

I called them and asked to be removed from their mailing list as they keep bugging me to activate mine. I'm gonna rip it out!

I wouldn't recommend ripping it out (the Onstar module at least) since the bluetooth for your phone is integrated into it. If you do decide to rip it out however, I will happily take it off your hands.
