Power steering loud noise

It started last week when I would turn the steering wheel the whole way while backing out of the drive way....last nite it started making a really loud grinding noise while driving strait....called onstar 4 a diagnostic test...and nothing found there....checked the power steering stick....totally bone dry....just had a oil change at my large GM dealership in january....why didnt they add some to it then.....the best part is I only have 5,000 miles on my camaro.....it shouldnt of even needed any power steering fluid yet....did they not fill it up on the line in Oh Canada when they produced the car?

So... did you end up putting some in there... having a dealer do it... or...? Maybe... you had a leak... have you noticed... fluid anywhere?

fill up your fluid before you do anything else. Then if you feel adventurous have somebody else sit inside and start the car and look for anything leaking (usually very easy to see streams shooting out of somewhere). Or just take it back to the dealership and have them take care of it. 5K and dry powersteering is not good. Also its not something they forgot on the line it would have given up a long long time ago if it was.
