Arrow Straight Piped the Sh*t Out of It!

Do you guys remember when I removed the resonator on my SS (L99)? I thought that was loud. Not even close.
Well, today I removed the huge ass mufflers too. So it's just straight pipes from the cats to the end, used the stock tips. Now that's what I call loud... and deep . Tue muscle car sound, hell a race car. Sounds beasty even when at idle and driving normally, but when you floor it or rev it hard... OMG! Words can't describe it.

I will post some videos later when I get a chance.

What's the loudest exhaust system out there (without headers)? Double that.

Im not too old for loud either.. it just has to sound like a badass not a lawn mower.

Straight pipes does 2 things, Reduces performance and annoys the shit out of everyone you pass by, I have been building custom exhaust systems for nearly 30 years and I know what sounds good and what sounds like shit and straight pipes are A Number 1 at the top of the shit list.

It is only cool for about 10 minutes then it gets real old real fast.

The Mustang crowd made that mistake went through that Fad years ago, Don't Follow.

Sorry to be so blunt but that is My Opinion.

Now go put some nice mufflers on and enjoy your Cool ass Ride and let everyone else enjoy it when you drive by.

Ted.

Quoted for truth, but to each his own. If it makes you happy go for it, but I'd hate to be your neighbor when you leave for work.

I just installed the Mangaflow Competition axle back (muffler delete basically). I have the L99 A6 and I left the BIG resonator in because I didnt want it to be too loud. I like this system because I love the look of the 5" tips and it's stainless and mandrel bent and there is plenty of room to cut the straight piece and add in a muffler if need be. I also got a great price on it too
If I remove the resonator and add in their "resonated X pipe, it would be the same as there Competition Cat back kit. right now, its a new install and I like the sound volume it has added, but who knows.....later on I might want it quieter, so at least I have that option to add in some mufflers.

I have the ADM Performance downpipes too if you want to take it up a notch.. I already had the pipes drilled and had the bungs welded on for your o2 sensors. I Just put them on today with my flowmaster catback and its wayy too loud for me. If u want em let me know 18whp with this 20 minute install too..

I might put an x-pipe there to reduce the popping a bit.

So lemme get this straight....

Straight pipe all the way back = Sounds like Sh*t

Remove resonators and replace with magnaflow non-resonated x-pipe and muffler delete = Sh*t also?

I plan on doing the latter so figured I'd ask, thanks.

If you really want to reduce the amount of cash spent on your exhaust and are looking for a good sound:

1. Muffler delete
2. Replace the factory H with an X junction like what Magnaflow offers
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/02xypipes.asp

Probably looking at $300-$350 with install.

I did NOT tune out/turn off the AFM. its just a little louder than when I had the stock mufflers on. not too bad at if you ask me. I do love the rumble the new axle back has inside the car though.

Definitely NOT too loud. And Definitely Improves power. Been running straight pipes with a cat for about a month, me and everyone LOVES is. Friends, Family, GM Salesmen. maybe not the neighbors. lol.

The only way you would lose power is if you remove the CATS.

THANK YOU! Your car sounds very nice.

But seriously, how the hell would you lose power if you straight pipe it, like some people said? Goes against common sense.

You need some backpressure. Cats give you the right amount.
