Buyer Beware

All of the dealerships will be finding out what their allotments are going to be soon. If you are going to place an order with a dealer, and give a deposit to hold your spot, make sure that they have enough vehicles alloted to cover their initial orders.

If not, you very well could place an order, and have your deposit cashed, and have to wait 6 months or longer for your vehicle, while there are Camaros on the ground at larger dealerships.

I would imagine that all dealers will get around 5 Camaros to start with no matter what size the dealership is. After that, it will depend on the size of the dealership.

For example, the Traverse is not supposed to go to dealerships until the end of Oct, however we got one in today. Pretty cool too!

Cool. They must have moved up production. We were told in a meeting that everyone would be getting one the end of Oct. Maybe they meant the end of Sept? I saw that our main competitor has one as well.

We are the largest Chevy dealer in the midwest. We are sitting at #3 in new cars sold over the last 3 months. We had 70-75 people on our initial list wanting info to order a Camaro.

We now have deposits for 26 coupes and 10 verts. I know of another dealer who has already taken 70 deposits and they are not in the top 250 Chevy dealers in the nation. They might be lucky to get 70 Camaro's all year!

I feel sorry for anyone who is near the middle of that list, as they will probably have to wait until the end of the Summer to get their car!

Just so you know, You really are going to be the #1 order.
Just a soon as we get allocation information from Chevrolet you will be notified and then we will also get the PEG group, which is just the order that lets us know Colors, options,Pricing...etc...

That was an e-mail I just got from my salesman. #1 on list. I hope he's right. He said he didn't know of any other launch from Chevy that they did not get priceing when they got PEG info. We will see. He is going to a regional meeting for the Traverse launch in Seattle on the 10th and expect's they may share some more info on that day about the Camaro since it's just 3 days before orders taken. That's just a guess, not trying to start anything.

Eventually. I'm just pointing out that you should be careful what list you get on. If you go to a smaller dealership with a smaller allocation, you might be waiting on the list while some of the 80-100k other Camaros are sitting on others lots.

So we all better get on your list then, KarlChev? Come on, dude. There are plenty of rural chevy dealerships out there and they'll all be getting their fair share of the action I'm sure. I called one up here in Utah and I'm now fourth on the list. I think it's dealerships who think they own God who are the ones taking way too many deposits, not small ones. Scotty, can you verify this 5 camaros per dealership thing?

1st off, I have never posted my name or asked for any business on this site. I am sure that you will have no problem finding a Camaro at MSRP if you look around a little bit. I'm just telling everyone to make sure where they are on the waiting list before you place a deposit.

As far as the 5 Camaros per dealership, that was a guess. They are doing something similar with the Traverse, so I think they might do something like that with the Camaro.

I'm not saying that I think that I own God! I'm pretty sure that your boy Scotty has 3x more deposits than my whole dealership! That is great for him! I wish that I had 70 deposits on Camaros.

Actually, we're waiting to see the allocation for the first few months (up to 6 months worth of allocation so I'm told...) on the 13th before we take deposits.

We are on the same team, and I'm not here to battle. I've said it many many times - I can't offer everyone a car - it won't work. But what I CAN offer is info to better help you buy your car where ever you choose to do so. I just take pride in all the Camaro love. I take pride you're buying a CHEVROLET!

I left a dealership that is #3 in Corvette sales for this dealership. Yes, I had my life long dream of Corvette fun....But I am happier with the customer satisfaction my current dealership has. Bad reputations are easy to find by an internet search. One just closed their doors. But if you pull up our dealership, or even Karl Chevy, You won't find any bad marks on their record. Yes Karl is big, and for good reason. Having a great location is one, and having loyal customers is another. They are doing something right. As are we - and we are happy with what we have. So BIG or SMALL - I think you'll be in good hands.

Who knows, if Wisconsin runs out of Pheasants - I may have to pack up the dogs and go to Iowa! You never know.
