I have a 1SS. I haven't had any issues with my speakers and I put in a cd I made 9 years ago and it played perfectly!

There are 2 options. You can get the base stereo or the Boston Acoustics upgrade. I listened to both before I bought and I felt the base stereo was just fine for me. I have a decent car audio history over the years as well. The base stereo was good enough.

The stock CD player will play MP3 CD's.

Go Boston... it's much louder and cleaner at high volumes. The stock one sounds dirty and is not loud either. Worth every penny of the upgrade cost.

Agreed! Although I never heard the base system, I am pleased with the performance of the BA upgrade. I didn't want to modify the stereo, and this fit the bill... for now.

It's still no pumped up aftermarket kick-your-ass system, and the real test will be the 'test of time'. No stock stereo lasts more than a couple years, if that, in my experience.

2SS

Does the 2SS come standard with the BA system?

I think the basic system is pretty good. However, I do not listen to music at loud volumes like many people do. I value my hearing too much for that.

Yes, both the 2SS and 2LT models come standard with the BA system. That's one of the reasons I ordered a 2LT.

I like the BA system, however, I feel (felt) it needed a sub. I think the sound is MUCH better with my small 10" SubThump Kicker

I agree. I don't listen to loud music either. Did you know that 1/3 of N.Americans are at least partially "deaf"? (that is, they can no longer hear certain frequencies or only partially hear them). When I found that out, I resolved to be sensible with my ears if I want to enjoy sound with natural ears the rest of my life.

At first I was giddy at the thought of having all the bells and whistles, but I think more and more my thinking is changing to buy purpose built items. The purpose of the Camaro SS is to enjoy the thrill of driving, and a lot of the bells and whistles won't enhance that experience. In my opinion, none of the 2SS upgrades improve the drive.

I already have a premium sports sedan with all the bells and whistles, and after you get used to the idea of having the gravy, it's no big deal. The bluetooth is useful, but not essential, and the built in garage door opener is merely a convenience. For a car that you will trade in every 5 years - it makes sense to have creature comforts, but I intend to keep the Camaro for 20 years so it makes sense to have less things to break down and become obsoleted and more durability. In 20 years, probably bluetooth will become obsolete (or iPods and so on). Anyone still use music tapes?
