Is this possible

Ok i have a v6 Camaro and i wanted more horses..i was on yearone.com and they have lots of engines within my price range. So i was wondering do u guys think that i could put a v8 engine in it instead?
Would i have to change over alot of things? If so what??

Its not impossible, but its not easy either. It would probably be easier/cheaper/more reliable to sell your car and buy a V8 Camaro.

Depends on what u get might have to mess w rear end, trans, gearing, ect. Bottom line your gonna spend a bit of cash that u could invest on a 5th gen and keep your 4th for memories

I agree, get a 5th gen. But if you must keep it AND go faster, does it have a 3.8 or a 3.4? If it's a 3.8, BLOW that puppy. 3.8 SC engines are FAST.

its possible, but its a lot of work.

http://www.hpsalvage.com/

click on swap tips.

also you will need the suspension from a V-8 car to deal with the added weight of the motor and whatnot.

if you can find a motor/trans/wiring/cpu for a good price, then you'd be better off than trying to piece everything together.

really, if you can find a Z28 that has been rear ended or whatnot that the whole front suspension, motor, trans, cpu is all in good shape at a junkyard or something would be your best bet.

the problem with ordering a motor from year one or summit or whatever is the fact that most of them arent turnkey motors and the majority of them are traditional small block carbd motors. while those will also go into the car with a lil effort, there's more to worry about due to the fact that the limited clearance between the top of the motor and the windshield cowl.

Bro i would stay away from doing any thing like that if I were you. For starters you don't sound like you have a good base knowledge to tamper with a project like that. Second do you have the financial backing like some of these company's do like year-one, SLP, Lingenfelter, Callaway, Tom Henry racing ext. If you are so concerned about messing up then i think not. If they do something like this a mess-up then all they do for the most part is make note of it so they will know what not to do the second time around. Plus the experience a knowledge there people have is the best of the best, and they would not be in those positions if they weren't. Also like you said, this is your first baby. Don't mess with the car. Just go out and get a 5th gen V8 SS. Plus it you screw up you 4th gen to much yeah you will not be a happy man. But it is your car, do with it as you will. Advice is free so you ether do it or don't.

Dude don't even do it...I was gonna do this to my 95 3.7L stang. I was gonna get a 5.0L...but it requires too much time and money. I would just leave it be and buy an SS 5th gen or wait it out and see if they bring forth a Z/28

Typically, the answer to "I was wondering, I have a . . . how easy is to . . . " is if you are capable of doing it yourself, you probably wouldn't need to ask. There are exceptions though

Also, a used Z28 can't cost a whole lot more (depending on year) than a new crate engine+other needed upgrades. The other option is to wait and use the money as a down payment this spring on a new SS.

I second getting blown. Do a proper engine/driveline buildup and get blown if you want more horses. Stay off the bottle.

GMPP and Summit Racing are your friends

Well excuse my under knowledge but what exactly does "getting Blown" mean?
i mean im only 18 and i want to major in automotive technology.. im just trying to soak up all the knowledge i can..but i was thinking about getting the new camaro but i dont want to rush it i mean the (2009) camaro aint goin nowhere. I want a V8 mainly bc im tired of getting smoked by other f-bodys. others are pushing ws6s and i just cant keep up
