z28 and z26?
I recently read in one magazine an indepth article about the Jay Leno turbo v6. And it got me thinking, do you think that chevy will produce both a high performance v8 AND v6 model some day? Just some food for thought.

Maybe, but I don't think they will use z26. If they do a high performance v6 I would think it would be a special edition with a continued run depending on sales

I don't think they could do both. V8 or TTv6 one or the other. V8 please!

Why not? If the market place has enough demand for it it would happen imo. Lots of us including myself would love the turbo V6.

Few things in this world are certain but I can say with certainty that GM will never put Z26 on a Camaro.

Like others said i can see there being a limited run, and if popular, continued. As for the "z26" that i called it, i have no idea what else it would be called. However why wouldn't chevy see if both a limited run z28 and a ttv6 be popular? As most of you are looking forward to the v8 powerhouse, i really don't see them just making a ttv6 right now, due to the popularity of the z28. i am just curious at see if BOTH would be made. and if they did make a ttv6, i wonder if they would allow for the tt to be bought as its own through gmpp.

Lol, just remember that the "Z28" name came from the model code "Z28" which signified a Z28 performance package, all the same the "Z27" code signified a Super Sport performance package, the 8 has nothing to do with the engine, although it is whitty i'll give you that haha, but yeah, no it wouldnt be Z26, but it wouldnt surprise me if there was a rise in all V6-muscle market, i know both Ford and Chevy are talking big about turbo charged editions of the Camaro and Mustang and all it takes is one of the two to put out even a half-assed model representing the idea before the other will take it seriously and punch back hard, then the original must defend itself, and so on, and so on, so as much as i personally dislike turbo-chargers and 6-cylinder engines both (just my oppinion, doesnt reflect the factual performance of the car or oppinions of others) i would be willing to bet both models will have turbo-V6 versions in the near future.
Now bring on the lame little emoticon holding the Microsoft Word sign xD |

Z26 was the sport edition of the old Chevy Beretta in the mid 90's. So I don't think it would be a good choice at all to use the Z26 on the Camaro. If they built a V6 performance edition they should use an edition from the Camaro's past or something new all together. Though more than likedly I really don't think they would take the time to build a higher performance V6 as it would probably be a waste of money & resources. I think there's a better chance of them developing a more potent standard V6 engine for the LS & LT especially with Ford's new 305hp V6 in the 2011 Mustang.

Design a bolt on turbo setup for the V6 and sell it through GMPP for existing and "new" v6 models. The only issue is competeing with other V6 turbo kit manufactures in the aftermarket. GMPP should have the upper hand for a while though because the V6 is DI and thus not simple to turbo right away and modify the Fuel system without factory knowledge. For an example look at GM's LNF DI engine and it's GMPP support... |

GM was rather successful with the Grand Nationals. I think they would/did make a rather nice turbo V6. Mabe mix some names together and call it a Sport National....or a Grand Sport edition like the Vette.
Mabe call it ....anything but a Z26...I just had a flashback of my sisters beretta from high school. |
