Stock Exhaust Weight

Anyone know how much weight I'll drop by switching from all stock parts to kooks headers and a corsa catback? My corsa is arriving this week and the package says 80 lbs! The stock must weight over 100.

L99 automatic by the way.

I just installed a Borla axleback om my LS3 this past weekend and the stock muffler assembly weighed about 20LB each, The Borlas weighed about 7LB each. Saved about 25LB just for that.

corsa exhausts are always the heaviest ones expect it to be at least 20 pounds heavier then stock and the headers to drop 20 pounds so you save nothing but move the weight to the back

You can easily drop 30-40 lbs with a cat back and 65-75 with a full system from the headers back.

The stock exhaust weighs like 70+ lbs.

As for Corsa, it is one of the heaviest after market exhausts on the market for two reasons. First, Corsa is a boat exhaust manufacturer, and as such uses very thick stainless. Secondly, if you look at how a Corsa muffler is designed, it is kind of like a muffler inside a muffler, inside a muffer....this adds weight.

Most other aftermarket full catback exhausts will be in the 45-60lb range.

Stock L99 system complete manifold to tip is 130.5 lbs

Our full system with mufflers w/o cats 83.3 lbs, with cats 87.8 lbs

So off-road kits will take off 47.2 lbs and cat'd systems drop 42.7 lbs.
