Do not buy from Adaptive Performance Automotive

First of all I would like to preface this post by saying that where there have been several that have had success with AdaptivePerformance, I for one was not one of them and there was another member of this forum who goes by the username of "Seddon" had the same problem as I did.

AdaptivePerformance came to the forum with a wiring harness that would allow C5 owners with DRL's to be able to have the Halo's on in conjunction with the DRL's. Nice feature and one that I had wished I had on my car. They ended up asking for a few testers and those at the onset got the harness but it had the wrong pin plug on it. Soon they got the correct plug and sent those out for a few testers and all was well. Orders were being taking for this harness at a cost of $38.00.

Complaints started to mount as many ordered from AdaptivePerformance and wondered when they were getting their part. The delivery seemed to take a while but I was in no particular hurry to order at that point but eventually did on Feb. 24th and thought I'd have it within 7 to 10 days. I contacted them to see when the produce would come and got no response. Finally, around March 4th I got an email stating the item was on it's way and I got it the following week. I waited a week to install it and guess what, the harness did what it was suppose to do however my passenger side Halo became inoperative. When I removed Adaptive's harness all would work fine but after 5 more installs I got the same results as did Seddon.

I sent approximately 6 emails and the same in PM's to Adaptive of the problem asking how can we correct this issue and guess what, no freakin' response! Seddon contacted me for help and since our conversations off the board to keep things in good spirits with Adaptive, they contacted him and told him to send his back for replacement. Dah, this the same thing I asked for and they refuse to speak to me. Since AdaptivePerformance doesn't seem to have the courtesy or professional business practice of working with customers who aren't satisfied with their product, I felt it was imperative for me to make this post to save the heartache, pain and loss of hard earned money to other Club members.

It's really a shame that one member has to go through this with AdaptivePerformance.
Being a LEO with the Indiana State Police for 30yrs as of tomorrow, my next move is to contact the Attorney General's office here in Indy and file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Division as well as the BBB on the less than favorable practices of AdaptivePerformance. I have no problem with putting someone like AdaptivePerformance on blast if that's what AdaptivePerformance wants and by their actions, I say that they do.

So in close I leave you with these words: caveat emptor Caveat emptor There is a company lurking around named AdaptivePerformance
that has screwed me and at least another member which they have said to him, they'll make it right but nothing to me as of this post.
So on blast is AdaptivePerformance until I've been restored. I'll post something everyday if I have to until I have been restored where I should be in this situation, either a complete refund or a working harness for my car.

DID I MENTION THE COMPANY THAT IS OPERATING LIKE A FLY-BY-NIGHT OPERATION IS AdaptivePerformance

Here is another post from one of our members about issues http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...light=adaptive

Which leads to issues the Corvette Forum is having and mentioned in post number #4

Thanks, I really appreciate that which is more than what I've gotten from
ADAPTIVE PERFORMANCE!

Just seems like people these days have no sense of core values or any sort of moral fiber within their being these days.

Unfortunately every forum out there has it's dead beat scumbag venders...Thats why I try and deal with venders where I live or in my state of residents...beacause if I have a problem I go there and take care of business!!...But overall, most venders are honest hard working people trying there best to make our hobby a better place. Good luck to all, trying to get issues settled...:(

Same here

Paypal dispute filed. Same story. No feedback, no email responses. Definitely not worth the effort.

Just got a reply on my paypal claim. (filed on the 17th) they've sent me a USPS tracking number.

I'll update when/if it arrives. I'm kind of afraid of it now though.

All feedback on the parts is positive, it's actually getting them that causes the problems. I need to check my paypal claim.

Just checked Paypal, and I have a tracking number now also. The vendor must not even read messages. I requested a refund. I don't want the part any longer. I ordered one from another vendor.

Why doesn't this forum Suspend Adaptive?? Alot of complaints with no communication from them.. I too filed a paypal complaint, they never responded to me, but sent paypal shipping info and I received the harness a few days later. I guess they don't ship shit out unless you file a claim with paypal...

I ordered a DRL plug-n-play harness. Didn't hassle them and received an update from paypal that it was going to ship and from order to in my home was around ten days.

NO COMPLAINTS HERE. The product works perfectly. No Splicing or tapping which made it worth the wait and gamble.

I too ordered when they fist came out received my part in very quick timming good packaging and a high quality product. Has worked as described. Very sorry to hear of these other problems. Just my opinion but I think as consumers we need to remember the new Camaro has not even been out for a full year yet and that these vendors are trying to meet our demands as fast as possible. Alot of them are home grown cottage industries not familiar with going business yet and are having to learn that curv very quickly. I would suggest to the vendors take your time to develop and not let us force you to be ready to soon. And as customers we need to remember to do our deligence when ordering from new companies. This car is going to be around for a while and our requests for mods will be as well. Just wait for the real explosion of Camaro parts at the 2010 Sema show. This year was nothing. Ok getting off my soap box

Well I had no problem ordering. I ordered and about a week later I recieved. I tried to install 3 weeks ago and it didn't work. After trying to contact Adaptive I decided to open everything up and see if I can find any problems it was a bad diode. Adaptive finanlly contacted me and told me to return the harness. So I mailed the harness on 3/22 certified mail I know they recieved it but no response from them about an update. Will keep everyone posted.

Breaking News

Update:

Got an email from Adaptive Performance today and he requested that I send the defective unit (harness) back and he would take care of me.
As I stated to him in my last email (he responded to my very first one) I really don't need or want the harness now as he forced me to go an alternative route due to the lack of communications.

All I want is a refund to my Paypal account and we'll call it lovely.

I'll keep you all posted as this issue isn't resolved until I'm satisfied. I think you all know or get where I'm coming from on this.

Peace!

Peace!

Well, I mailed off the harness back to Adaptive Performance on Saturday and I got confirmation it was received and signed for on Monday 4/12.
I sent an email to Patrick Marlow DBA Adaptive Performance that my tracking showed he had the defective part and since it took so long for him to get back to me on the matter, I would be better served with a refund since I decided to go another route with this modification with the DRLs. Within a few minutes I got an email from Adaptive that they did have it and they would be forwarding me a Full Refund to my Paypal account which has just taken place.

My issue with this company is now closed. I thankful that they did eventually get in touch with me and they did give me my money back.
I think the product they're selling is a good product for what it is intended to do when it's not defective.

To date, myself and Seddon have been the only two who have had issue with this wiring harness to the best of my knowledge.
I will also say that I did contact Adaptive Performance through PMs to avoid any issues on the board or blasting him/them in a public forum. It was only when I wasn't getting any response that I decided to come public and I gave good reason and complete detail of the situation.
Now that I've been made whole again and restored back the condition I was in prior to ordering, I can only say that anyone who orders or buys anything from anyone will have to make up your own mind as to what you should do and how to handle situations should there be problems. I suggest you keep all packaging, receipts and emails just in case.

I now drop the gavel on the desk, this case is closed!

DRL Harness

I believe I ordered after you without talking to Adaptive Automotive and recieved my products within a few days. I am happy with my product but I believe the way they are conducting business is just wrong. If you notice in their forum they only posted on the front page then just disappeared completely! Also customers are having problems with their harnesses and they do not respond to the issues in a timely matter and sometimes not even at all and it is really bad on their part. It's almost like they are swindling people who end up with a defective product its like a 50/50 chance!!!

Anyways to the OP I hope everything turns out well for you man i definitely feel for you because I too have been ripped off by a company on this forum but instead of it being $38 it was $935! but Goodluck to you sir.

you do know to get the halo's to come on with the DRL's and to keep the DRL's on at night is to just run a wire from the power/ground of the DRL to the power/ground of the sidemarker!

easy install, all you need are 4 wire taps and 2 feet of wire. and completely reversible.
