Are we talking the solo axle backs or the mach's? I put the quantum axle back's on my A6 back in October and posted a boatload of videos here. Is that what everyone is hearing?

It's pretty much like Jeff says, it's more of a "hum" at around 2000 for me. Turning off AFM helped a lot; I hear it but it's not that annoying and pretty much disappears in 6th.

Zombie - that is it exactly.

Is there a fix that doesn't involve turning off AFM or is that how it is supposed to sound?

Absolutely...call anytime...Jeff would be best to call during the install, as he has had more experience in person with the kits. His number is 905-703-1557. Thanks

I think Jeff or Steve from Solo would have to answer if that's how it's supposed to sound. From his earleir post I'd guess the answer is yes.

I'm toying with the idea of getting the Edelbrock X pipe to get rid of the stock resonators. Jeff, any idea how the quantum might sound with this installed and AFM off?

If the 1800-2000 rpm HUM is to loud, place some dynamat in the trunk under the trunk liner. It lessens the hum in the cabin, but it still sounds really cool from outside.

That might be a good idea. I have noticed it's louder when the back seat is down.

What's the lead time on shipping? Might have found something to spend the income tax refund on.

We can ship out on Monday if you order before 1pm, and have it in your hands in 3 business days. You are in PA, so it is east coast and should take 3 days max. We get it out to CA in 4 days. Give me a call at 516-655-9002. If you order after 1pm, we can get it out on Wed., as we ship on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.

Well, finished toying with the idea and put in the Edelbrock X pipe this weekend.

First of all, I'm really surprised that a name like Edelbrock should have as bad a fitment as this did. Instructions didn't mention you had to remove the tunnel brace - obvious I know, but failure to mention it is just lazy.

Second, I had to use 2 1/2" ID to 2 1/2" OD adapters to mate the X pipe to the stock pipes! Even though the X pipe ends were notched, I just didn't happen to have a pipe spreader in my pocket. To top it off, I had to go to Pep Boys, Advance, AND 2 Autozones to find 4 ID/OD adapters. Uncalled for by a major player like Edelbrock. Now the tips are poking out about 4 inches due to the extra length caused by the adapters. Not a real terrible look thanks to Solo's stainless tips.

Okay, so anyway (6 and a half hours later) I have the X pipe mated to my Solo Performance Quantum Axle back. So, how does it sound. Growl and burble is about 10-15 db louder but drone is MUCH worse now. Again it's only in a very narrow RPM range over 2000 RPM until it drops into 6th. Now I don't know if I should ditch the quantum or just try some dynamat first.

This same drone is on the V6 systems too. Same RPM's as well. I ended up calling Steve and getting a pair of resonators from him (the V6 manual kit just had straight pipes after the resonated X). It helped!

Not sure the set up on LS3's so forgive me if I'm leading you astray.

I'd call Steve and see what he recommends. He knows the issue. For what it's worth, I also added FatMat in the trunk and I'm pretty happy now.

What type of resonators? Can you describe size, placement, etc.?

Scroll down on this link until you get to the Mach XLT kit.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...lo+v6+mach+xlt

This is the kit for the automatic V6 cars. I bought the Mach XL kit since I have the 6-speed stick, and added the resonators off the XLT automatic kit due to the drone that grated on me.

They are called QT resonators per Steve and they are located exactly where you see them on the automatic kit.

Hope this makes sense. I'd call Steve because there may be a better resonator for the LS3. Do that before you make any move just to be safe.
