DIY: Installing steering wheel audio and phone controls on Camaro !

I have my bluetooth audio switch and harness installed. Lucked up and found a bluetooth onstar on eBay. Now I can't find a dealer in TN willing to program for under 190.00. I flippin refuse to pay that. Anyone have list for states nearby that have done so I don't get raped. I seen one before but I can't find it now. Thanks in advance. And Thanks for this how-to Im a female and installed this all myself so it is super easy. Just need a competent dealer willing to program my darn BCM!!!!

I'm a little out of your way, but if you are in town Pete Moore Chevrolet in Pensacola, FL will reprogram. 50 bucks to chevy and .5 hours labor. I was quoted by them ~90.00 bucks.

Which dealer did you take it to? You need to take a copy of the front page of this thread, and take it back and tell them they are full of it!

I folllowed the instructions to the T it was simple now I'm at the dealership and they say that they did the update to BCM and they said niether the hand controls or the pdim are working can anyone give me some advice as to what could be the problem

Was at the dealership Friday and updated the audio software and bcm, the steering controls & PDIM is working great.

Hey how's it going? I have a 2010 Camaro 1LT with OnStar, XM radio, USB and the Aux port but no steering wheel controls. I wanted to use your method to install the radio harness and switch then get it programmed from the dealer. My question is, do I need the PDIM everyone is talking about? and will my bluetooth function after programming? If so, where is the mic? or is it the same mic used for the OnStar?

Before I go to get my PDIM and the steering wheel programmed. Do any of you have the pdf/documentation about programming this? I have a feeling my dealer will have no idea. I already have the PDIM pdf/documentation and would like the one for the steering wheel as evidence so it can be done right.

Here is the beautiful thing about this the parts and program are gm. they cant say you messed up the bcm by installing their program. when the techline programs your car they write a new program to your vin. if and when you had a bcm go bad and got it replaced at any gm dealer when they went to replace and reprogram there wouldnt be an issue because it would reprogram for steering wheel controls without them doing anything it will already be part of your cars program from now on. with the bulletin i posted gm is admitting to letting you install this program. the reason warranty will not cover it and you have to pay for the program is because it is basically an accessory like a set of running boards on a truck or adding heated seat package supported by gm. you still have to pay for them and the install because there is nothing wrong with your vehicle. warranty issues are only covered if there is a defect or something wrong with your vehicle. the only thing wrong is that gm didnt offer this in the 1ss to begin with. hope that clears it up for you.

Yes. The bluetooth, for phone call, is integrated into the OnStar module. The good news is that adding bt is very easy. The bad news is that it can be a pain getting OnStar to update your account.

I got my wiring harness in the mail yesterday and installed my Bluetooth and radio controls on the steering wheel. Everything went smoothly and looks a lot better with controls on both sides of the steering wheel. Money well spent!! My next job is to buy and install the console gauges. Thanks for all the pictures & help!!

I must say that the hardest part of this whole install was removing the airbag. I have installed the switch and the harness and now all I have to do is get the bcm programmed.

Chevy dealer in Conroe, TX charges $250 for programming. $50 for tech support and $100/hr. for 2 hours of labor. Anyone know a place in Houston that has a more reasonable price?

I know!!! By the way I bought my steering controls from you a few months back. At least they look nice in the car but I'm still trying to find a reasonable dealership. Plus no one really knows what I want done even with the bulletin. I feel they're just throwing out numbers hoping I'll bite.
