HOME MADE CATCH CAN

I USED THIS STYLE FILTER HOUSING ON OLD HARLEY TRIKES FOR BREATHERS.

THE HOUSING IS FROM JEGS $27.99 FREE SHIPPING
THE FILTER IS FROM NAPA, #21361 $2.63
3/8 GATES TRANS COOLER HOSE FROM NAPA, $5 PER FOOT, YOU NEED ABOUT 4'
BRASS FITTINGS, 2 SMALL HOSE CLAMPS.
I MADE THE BRACKET FROM SHELF MATERIAL I HAD, BUT YOU COULD USE ANGLE IRON, OR ANY THING YOU HAVE. I PUT A BRACE ON TO KEEP IT FROM VIBRATING

TOOK 2 HOURS TO FAB AND FINISH, I WILL RUN IT FOR A MONTH OR TWO AND THEN TAKE IT APART AND PAINT IT FLAT BLACK.

YOU CAN JUST SPIN OFF THE FILTER AND DRAIN IT OR SPIN ON A NEW ONE.

YOU COULD EVEN CHROME THE HOUSING AND USE A CHROME FILTER

As long as the filter doesn't restrict the airflow too much that a great idea. I love the spin off filter as it will probably catch more oil. Once you run it for a week, you should check flow on both sides to ensure the filter is not too restrictive.

Good Idea

That's neat!
Somebody will probably think you've got dual oil filters!
Good job thinking in a new direction. Hope the airflow through the filter due to intake vacuum is sufficient to trap lots of oil and water vapor.

Nice idea. I used a craftsman air compressor oil/water separator, which was a really cheap way to go. It has been working fine.

i removed the filter today and checked it, looks good, a small amount of oil in bottom of filter.
i checked the hose on the suction side, and see no oil in the hose.

looks like it is working good.

i plan to make one for the clean side and mount it in the CAI housing under the filter.

Are actual catch cans that expensive to go through the trouble just to make one?!

you can expect to pay $100-250 depending on the brand.

the cheap ones on ebay are just an empty can

this is under $50 and works just as good, and is easy to clean.
