i need help from a stereo guru

i know this is in the wrong forum, but here we go.

i have a 2006 silverado with onstar, xm, bose, and all the goodies. i am installing a panasonic touch screen double din dvd/stereo. i have everything to install it, but i want to use the stock gm xm antenna rather than the aftermarket one. what do i need to do to make that happen? the plug for the stereo i want to install has the pink plug for the xm antenna. will the stock gm xm antenna work? do i need a adapter for the plug? where is the stock xm reciever hidden in the truck?

any help would be great

Check www.crutchfield.com they might have the adaptors you need. Keep in mind you might need to get adaptors for onstar to still function and I'm not sure if it affects your model year but the later model trucks need to keep their stereo in the loop somewhere usually placed under seat due to some other controls (power locks, windows, DIC, etc.) being routed through the stereo to operate. Good luck!!

This will maintain onstar and chimes

Looks like you wont be able to reuse GM XM line at least without some splicing perhaps.

the xm tuner is behind the passenger airbag, if I remember correctly. You would need to take it out, and put the new module in its place, but im not sure if the connectors are the same. Also, there is a pigtail of about 6" that comes out of the bottom of the stock antenna, again, not sure what connector, but it might be a PITA to find something that works. I just pull the 3rd brake light out, place the antenna right in front of it, silicone it up, and put the light back in, and run the wires across the headliner, and down one of the A-pillars. Looks clean, and as long as you put the adhesive plate under the antenna, wont damage your paint.

the loction ltl mentioned is correct. the plug however will take some work... you will most likely have to trim some of the plastic around the antenna connection off and then plug it in as they will not be the same. the connection should still be nice and tight and as long as you mount the new XM unit solidly you will not have any problems.
