Hopefully I'll feel differently after seeing it in person. But right now, I don't feel like the interior has mass appeal. It's not bad or ugly, but to me, it's just not the homerun that the exterior is.

I'm sure once I put my foot back in to a V-8, I'll forget about the parts of the interior I have issues with. But I was hoping that I wouldn't have to forget about them.

Personally I believe the premise of the original post is flawed. It won't be the most appealing interior to everyone and cars that try to do so just end up feeling generic. The Camaro has personality to it's design that will gain some admirers and lose others but I don't see it as problematic. I really don't think most people have a fetish for 'L' handles, and the Camaro's look fine. Hard to say more without a chance to try one out in person though. Leather on those sections would be nice, but those panels should look better with the ambient lighting, it might be a good idea to offer leather trim as an optional upgrade to the leather at some point in the future though. I think demand for such a package would be limited, but those who would want such a package would likely be willing to pay enough premium to make it worthwile. As for the center stack, I've seen plenty of 'standard' center stacks that I liked less, hardcore audio nuts will be annoyed but I and most of the mass market really don't care much though I am interested to see how they handle a nav system. The center stack is the one place GM might've made a small mistake but I want to test drive it, using the controls as I'm not worried about it looking different in pictures but what it's like to sit in the car and use.

The whole point to all the pieces is to be different and new, the mustang and challenger have the same old stereo as everyother car and Gm wanted to be different and ahead of the game with this one. also if you don't like the shiny-ness of the colored door panels don't get them or a cool idea, sand them and put a flat clear on them. i think GM gets an A+ on this interior and i wouldn't change a thing. scratch that, i agree that there was a little to much color on the seats, should have been done like the G8 or Cobalt SS but then again it goes back to being different and unique

I definetly hope that they do NOT change the interior since I can't buy the car for a few years and I love the interior. I think it looks brilliant and has a fantastic blend of retro and modern. I would absolutely hate it if it was changed to look more like say, Audi. Don't get me wrong, where I to buy Germnan I'd buy Audi, but every car has it's interior. This is the Camaro's.

The G8 is an American 5-series BMW.

European cars have their toys in the center, so when you design a car and pin it against another, like the G8 was to the 5 series, you tend to have similiar appliances.

I havent been in the Camaro interior, but i can tell you the G8 interior is one of the best GM interiors ive seen to date. Its clean, easy to use, made with above average materials, and easy to mod.

I think GM should implement a clap on lock and a clap off unlock device with the door locks Kidding aside, I think GM has done a great job with the interior, I just wish there were better pictures of the final version of the panels and lighting. However from what I've seen, it is unique and special.. The challengers biggest problem is the interior's in all their cars look the same..

Great topic Eich! Here's my $.02...

Why the clunky loop door handles ? They look bulky, clumsy and a little out of place. A nice, small, L-Shaped handle would be much more appealing.

Love the oval handles, I feel it looks more classy and solid. Like pulling an ejection handle or something

I like the idea of color options. But if shiny plastic is the only option for every color, I think it comes off a little cheesy looking. Something wrapped in leather/pleather would have much better mass appeal. Maybe the pics from Indy don't represent the final material ?
I kinda felt the same way at first, however seeing the ambient back lighting, I'm totally sold... I want it! However, I agree this is definitely not appealing to the mass market.

In my opinion, this is the least attractive part of the interior. I'll admit that the looks have grown on me somewhat since I first saw the spy shots but I still can't say I like it much. The design seems to have been driven by the desire to keep the center stack separate from the console to allow for those retro gauges. But wrapping it under the dash looks odd. The playstation looking HVAC controls look gimmicky and the radio itself doesn't easily lend itself to adding an option for Navigation or any aftermarket replacement.
This one has grown on me a lot - I love the functionality of the button layout, and am a big fan of wrap under dashes... just the huge Ferrari nut in me I suppose

great comparison vs the Ferrari it almost looks like it takes a few design cues from those various ferrari's

Ow no don't take it the wrong way bro. I am wanting to see my girl in a good way. I love Ferrari's like you would not begin to realize. It is like the analogy "Cause and effect". Cause I see the pics of the Ferrari interior. Effect I now want to go and shake the bed sheets with my girl.

Ferrari = major aphrodisiac for me bro.

i love the new camaro but lets face it all american cars are built with plastic interior but i have to say the camaro from the pics look really nice and not cheep looking look at the challenger in fact look at any dodge if its viper charger 300 they all have a nice outside but by far the worse interior when it comes to looks and quality

Agreed - and its been a royal pain to convince people at my work (and I live in oklahoma, of all places! You'd think american cars would be more popular here. Then again, I work at a university) that GM is loads better than it used to be - better, even, than many imports.

And coming from a '94 BMW driver myself, BMWs are going downhill, both performance and design wise. It's nice to see GM turn things around. After 02 when they canceled the camaro, the rest of the line looked pretty dim, and the future along with it... not anymore

It's amazing how biased some drivers of german and japanese cars can be. Some of my family members, I swear you can see it in their faces, they want to capitulate, but the stubbornness and pride just won't let go...

i'm a german car driver, but born an american muscle lover, i'll admit i'm biased against most japanese imports mainly because I hate the look of riced out cars and the fact that almost every kid w/ a Civic thinks he's in Fast and the Furious.

but i gotta say that the skyline is an Awsome car! and the fact that scion drivers have packed 40 psi of boost into their engines (not sure which engine) is outrageous. power to them!
