Factory Exhaust is really nice

After driving for 5 months with the MRT 1.0 and now just going back to the factory muffler I'm surprised at the nice sound the factory exhaust has at idle.

The design group for the mufflers really did a good job. At highway speeds the exhaust is quiet but when you get on it there is some throaty tones to it.

Ya know you're right, the stock is not bad , but in my opinion - everybody has one - still weak sounding too often . I have 14000 miles now and it definitely does get better over time , but the flow rates shown by MRT, Flowmaster, etc. all point to those GM mufflers holding back these engines just a hair . Is it worth spending the extra $$ for the gains ?? Probably not, but the small gains justify the expense of wanting the sound !... well that''s gonna be my excuse anyway.

Those big dang cans are starting to bug me, to bad they have to be cut off. I wouldn't mind having some straight pipes back there.

I like the look of the big cans! It's like the 70's Corvette's with the big boys up and out on diagonals. Loved that look!

I'm sorry you didn't like the MRT v1.0

I'm glad you like the sound of your factory mufflers.

How many threads are you going to start telling us about your factory mufflers?

Here is your first thread about this same topic just in case you missed placed it and that is the reason you started this new thread about the very same thing.

Factory Exhaust is really nice v1.0

They sound fine to me. Looks.....well, looks like I am hauling around 2 trash cans under my ass. As soon as I get time (maybe tomorrow) I plan on blacking them out

I'm sorry if I missed this in another thread or something, but what made you decide to go back? The MRT 1 too loud? If so, why stock and not a different, less aggressive aftermarket? It seems like you're going between the two extremes of loudest and quietest. I never thought the stock system was bad whatsoever, I just wanted a LITTLE more. For me, the MBRP was perfect. Nothing obnoxious but I know it's there. And man, it looks so much better without those giant mufflers.

Performance Wise (Stock Sucks).

GM will need to think like Ford now in building Mustangs. Camaro is a sports car, why do they equip them with those huge cans and tumered filters ??

When I took the stock exhaust out and replaced it with Magna Flow Cat back as well as K&N panel filter ( I witnessed better sound, better performance, and better fuel consumption) for sure !!

So if those mods were basic on the Camaro with long headers, Ford will think twice before competing with Chevrolet.

But now sorry!! Camaro is only a Saloon car that needs plenty of modifications to reach the Sports car level

Yes, I had the MRT 1.0 but it WAY too loud for me, especially the drone at 2,000 RPM rattled my teeth.

I went back with stock because I had it and it was "free".

Unfortunately I don't have the disposable income for overpriced muffler systems that most people seem to have.

But that goes with a single income earner family.

Matter of opinion I guess.. I absolutely love my MRT V1! The 2,000 rpm drone doesn't bother me at all. I usually have music on or the windows down or both!

I completely understand that. $1000 or so for an exhaust system is not chump change, especially when you've already bought one set which unfortunately didn't work out for you.

I'm glad you like the stock system though and I'm sure you can get some cash out of that MRT system.

After two washes I noticed another advantage of going back to stock exhaust is no black soot on the back end of my car that I have to clean off.

Stay tune for more advantages if I find them. I know there are some of you on pins and needles.

one great thing about my Solo catback....thee are no cans at the back at all. Just one big x pipe muffler in the middle of the car.

Looks great from the back angle.

Give it time and the black soot will be back after you start getting build up in the factory mufflers.

Also get ready to clean that black crap off the floor of your garage. There is a small drain hole in the bottom of each muffler to let the moisture drain out of the factory mufflers. It runs down the mufflers and it drips on the floor. Mine started to do that right before I trashed them and I only had like 3,800 miles on them.

I don't have a garage but park it on crushed rock parking area under a carport.

Which reminds me that I need to check the drain hole and make sure it's not plugged up.
