Fortunately as long as you don't need new plates you get to keep your old ones. I personally think the blue/gold ones are gross looking.

I don't know why they have to keep changing the plates. IMO, there's nothing wrong with the ones we have now. I don't know why they had to do away with the Liberty plates either.

Ya, if u live in an MTA county, the MTA surcharges are ridiculous. Last year registration fee: 29. This year 61.50. That's more than double in one year (motorcycle vanity plates).
I know some people pay more, but in NY we pay enough other taxes (income, land, school, etc) and now DMV fees are thru the roof... And i love it when they change the law that requires 'us' to pay for the new plate designs.....like we voted to say 'YES! i want the ugly new plate and I want to pay for it myself!'. Guess we don't have prisoners making the plates anymore....!
