I am not real familiar with these and I also dont know how to install. Will this effect gas mileage?

The best deal is the Radio Shack 2.2k ohm, 1/2 watt resistor in the harness connector.

It installs very simply. One end plugs into your transmission (where the current harness is now plugged in) and the other end receives the harness that you just disconnected from the transmission, placing the skip shift inline of the original harness.

Instructions are included.

I don't think you would see any appreciable change in fuel economy.
