I've been in that parking lot at Fuji-san. Don't let it fool you, it's still a 8 hour hike up to the top from that point.

hehe you are right Kenji sir! Its only step 5 in the way up. There are total of 20 steps on the way up! By there is no way I'm going all the way up to the top! lol

I made that mistake with my dad and brother several years back... no food - no water and ended up staying the night up there close to the summit to watch the sunrise from the peek. It did only take a couple hours to get down though.

I like the rear bowtie, like the lights on the mirrors but not the mirrors itself, too big, that is why I got these.

Camaro in Japan

You witnessed on your trip to Japan why I'll walk before I ever buy a Japanese car. They are selling at best a $25,000 car for $46,000+. Predatory trade practices in Japan place huge tarrifs on US made cars. If we did the same thing who would pay $60,000 for a Prius? Not only are sales of US cars restricted (only three dealerships?) but US carmakers are not allowed to manufacture cars there.

We open our markets and manufacturing capability while Japan shuts others out. To hell with them and their cars.

Other than that I have no strong feelings on the matter.

Cars in Japan are also taxed based upon weight and overall size, plus only the rich usually can afford to buy imported cars (non JDM). Back when I was there, 80's and 90's, the young guys would come out at night for street racing and you would see the occasional american car. Yen rate to the dollar was really great then, we would convert our dollars to yen before going shopping especially in the neighbor hood shops.

If you've ever been to NBVC (port Hueneme) there's a lot where they stack-up all the GM exports going to Japan. Unfortunately for security reasons (and because I like my job), I didn't take any pictures. But it was definitely nice to see a bunch of Camaros, Corvettes, and Caddys EXPORTING to Japan in an age where it seems everything is going the opposite way.

Is that on the navy base or the civilian port? Just curious cause my friends use to go there on T.A.D. from Camp Pendleton, Ca back in the day.
