Official V6 HP?

I've been hearing on different websites and videos the words probably, around, and about with regards to the V6's HP. Does anyone know the actual number?

The_Beast_ is correct. The official number for the LLT Camaro is 304 hp.

It comes direct from GM.

The 3.6L LLT motor will feature direct injection (DI) and variable valve timing (VVT). This is the same motor as found in the Cadillac CTS and STS. It has an impressive powerband and produces this power at very high efficiency.

Ahh I see. I knew all that other stuff, just did not know they had tested it for HP in the Camaro. I can roll with 304 horsies under my hood...

300+ or 304 depending on who you talk to.

...I suspect a dynometer may reveal some extra hidden ponies...but that's GM's way, isn't it?

If you want to talk about the hidden ponies, I think there are some stuck in that exhaust. Replace it. That intake isn't aluminum. Get a new one. You could have some freer flowing headers. I'm sure that computer could use a more aggressive tune. I could go on.

would it be fair to say that with the performance intake and catback exhaust accessories from GM that the HP would go up to about 320?

I thought the guys from D3 Cadillac installed an intake and exhuast on the CTS with the DI 3.6, and gained 31rwhp WITHOUT a tune..?

Well I know some guys were disputing D3's claims, and I'm as skeptical s they are, but I did read in I think Road & Track today that had a head-to-head of a bunch of higher-end cars that had been lightly tuned. D3's CTS was rated at 340 BHP and 292 ft/lbs of torque after what the article described as a "custom intake system with a heat sheild" and a corsa exhaust, (no doubt fully encompassing the exhaust from headers to tailpipes). Despite this, they rated the car at 6.1 0-60 and 14.5 1/4 mile. Maybe this was an AWD model? They had also modified the braking capabilities of the car, so maybe it was significantly heavier as well. I also would expect that a tuning of the ECM had been done. But that's still pretty cool to squeeze those extra horses and pound feet in a natty-aspy 6 of just barely more than three and a half liters. I imagine that if you're driving an LS or LT with the 18s, you'd be easily bumping the times to sub 6-second and low 14s with these or similar mods. Now, if only GM would announce pricing on the GMPP intake, not to mention its stats as to flow, etc. Also, I am curious what the exhaust system they plan on selling includes and its stats. A 340 HP LT camaro with full warranty is fine by me.

300 - 304 hp is great either way. I just wish the torque was pumped up a bit more. It would be great to have a V6 feel and perform very close to my LT1 V8.

It should, actually...maybe not outright beat it, but "very close" as you said.

EDIT: I don't want to start a war, again...so I'll just say "V8>V6, etc, etc and all that jazz..."

to elaborate on this more from an LT1 owner, it will feel about the same when moving, but i dont think the lower torque of the v-6 will give you the same take off feeling as the LT1 does. but it could very well feel the same depending on the torque curve of the motor. thats one beneficial thing about the LT1, it makes torque at a low rpm and the stock torque converter engages at a low rpm as well so it plants you in your seat. I imagine that the V-6 will still do the same, but will have to be at a higher rpm to get the same torque

I'm curious, now that you mention that....

Have you ever had your car on a dyno? I'd be interested to see a power/torque map for the LT1.

This car is geared much higher off the line then the 4th gen cars. A4's 1st is 3.06 vs A6's 4.07 or manuals 4.48. Rear end gears were as low as 2.73 up to 3.23(I don't remember if 3.42s came on V8s). 5th gen gets 3.27 unless you get a manual SS. People quickly forget what kind of huge mods gears and converter were on 4th gens. This car pretty much comes standard with huge gears off the line due to the steep 1st.

not since ive owned it, I was going to get it dyno'd but the trans took a isht on me 2 days before the dyno day we were having down here.

ive got one from when I first got the car from the previous owner tho, peak numbers were 423tq/411hp

but thats just a "little bit" of mods too...lol

as for an LT1 dyno, its about like this.... at about 1800-2200rpms, it kicks in and is relatively flat across the band.

another good point. (and there were 3.42's on some of the manual 4th gens)
but something to keep in mind is that the rear ratio is now partially offset by the steeper 1st gear.

that LLT is one bad lil mofo. id like to have one to play with.... switch to ethanol, slap a couple turbos on that bistach and crank it up.

tho, im with you. I was debating a 6-banger, but after Dragon first posted his pics of Indy, I couldnt let myself settle for anything but an SS.

Yeah that would be great to know, as I don't really know much about engine modding. How much hp would it take to make up for the lower torque of the 6?
