i am going to build my own cai

i am interested in building my own cai. i am not interested in "pretty" so i can keep the cost down. plus i am thinking about a thermal wrap for the entire length of intake pipe. why do we insulate the box and not the entire intake pipe?

Sounds great ! But you will find that you will be spending more money in the long run and not getting the performance you want (unless you have done this before for a company). Just read the threads on the airaid system.
Love the injen !

i am just going to have a little fun in this endeavor. all the little things have to be considered, distance between the maf and tb, location of the vaccum line, some knowledge of aerodynamics[for reducing turbulance at the 90] i find it fun to engineer this system. at the very least i will have become more familiar with the car. budget what budget i dont need no stinking budget plus i am a barber i know everything ha ha

I've seen lots of guys do cai projects. A lot of them just used piping from home depot. They ain't pretty but they usually get the job done. Good luck to you sir, and post some pics.
