The rattle comes from not getting the sound killing gromets reinstalled.. I put an MTI Six Shooter on myself and thought it was horrible until I re adjusted the gromets back under the console correctly... Much better

here's my logic:

hurst shifter kit $320-399
install $70-80
clinking sound priceless

MGW
shift kit $85
install $0
no clinking sound $0

so i have about $300-400 more in my pocket, no clinking noise but can't short shift when i want to track or street race it (which is never).

where have i gone wrong??? oh yea i forgot it's kinky according to some

You haven't. Both are great. I just like Hurst shifter a lot. No argument.

Let me get this straight, you didn't get a full shifter only a knob and boot ? The reason I ask is the full shifter is $350 and you only invested $85 ...

Did the Hurst short throw w/aluminum knob ( sorry SSOOCH, your's looked so good we had to copy ! ), reused the factory boot. Yes, it rattles, but the shifter is so tight and precise who cares ! This thing just clicks into place ! IT ROCKS !!!

As for the rattle.... it is a muscle car, not a Rolls. Besides, it only rattles when you take your foot off the gas. ; )

I ordered on of these for grins:

Is there any way to use it on the 1SS M6? The leather ball is nice but I haven't tried to remove it to see if this appropriate (for my IOM 1SS) pool 5 ball shifter can be used. Anybody know?

interesting so it is basically the stock shifter with a smaller stick ? and a dif knobby.

How does this shorten the throws ? with just a smaller stick i would think it would have to travel further to the gate ?

The Hurst Rattle is gone with an extra vibration isolation kit that came with mine. Missed them the first time, rattled, read the instructions, installed ALL the parts and the rattle is gone. This shifter is awesome. I demoed the different ones at Cfest and I will stick with my Hurst!!! WAY BETTER IMO.

the leather wraps perfectly, and I put the T handle on it!

Sounds like he only put on the shifter knob without the actual shifter.

I'm sure he likes it (anything is better than that factory knob) but he doesn't know what he's missing without getting the actual shifter.
