JBA MIDPIPES REVIEW

They looked great out of the box and I couldn't wait to get started. I Didn't understand why it had a set of 2 grade 8s and 2 steel bolts. I don't like the fact that they didn't weld the bolt on or put a floating nut plate on the mid pipes. They appeared to be set up nice with no instructions not that you need em anyway. The stock ones are a pain in the ass to take off. I suggest you take off the back most sensors and then disconnect the front ones on both sides. Makes it alot easier to deal with. Then when you have the pipes off take out the front sensors from the old pipes that you left installed and install them on the new ones. Then put the new pipes in. I found it easiest to install the new from underneath the car. When I installed the driver side new pipe I was a little pissed off that they didn't take the time to weld the front o2 sensor point at the right position. So it has 1/16'' clearence from the wires touching the tranny and 1/8'' clearence from the o2 sensor hitting the tranny. Other than that drivers side wasn't to terrible to install. Next was the passenger side install it was lined up right for the o2 sensors. The only problem with it was that the connection point to the catback exhaust was off by an inch. So I managed to fanagle it some and get it to hook up. The aft bolt is a pain to tighten down but it can be expected. After I hooked it all up I fired her up and checked for leaks. The sound is alot louder than it did with my borla sport catback and throttle response and low end power felt a little different. Would I recommend this kit to anyone no way unless JBA welds the foward driverside o2 sensor on the pipe at a 12 or 10 oclock position. Not entirely sure I would have to look again but it would clear nicely then if they weld it at the proper position. If they fix this then I would recommend buying it. Wednesday if I get a chance I will take more pics and next Friday after my vacation I will post if my 2000 mile drive kicks codes or not.

Well after putting about 1500 miles on the car during vacation the car is def. louder. It sounds like a muscle car now and has alot of drone between 70-85. I hated having to drive10 hrs straight with the noise in the car. I still don't recommend them to anyone else unless jba fixes the drivers side front mount point so it doesnt touch the o2 sensor wires. I def. feel a difference on low end power and little on the top and no engine codes or anything.

Sounds good. I wonder why some stuff will throw codes, and some won't. I guess placement of the cats is key.

These are mid pipes and from what Ive heard about the mid pipes is they don't set codes. Now that I'm finally used to the drone(1500 miles of driving) in the car its actually not that bad my friend talking in the vids owns a 2000 cobra. He actually thinks it sounds just right not to loud or to quiet. I think it sounds just about right aswell. It wasn't very loud with just the borla kit on should have made vids before I put the mid pipes in. I had one of revs at idle just gotta make a new one without license plates showing. The going thing amongst friends now is that it sounds like a V-8 without those stock midppipes in. They say it actually has the sound of a muscle car now. I would say that it would only be slightly louder with long tubes added in than what its at now.

Can you please post some pics of the midpipe??

The images on the web for that P/N are generic.. I think.

Anyone get a code on these well after installing? I got a code Friday nearly 2000 miles after I installed them.

so you have a S/C camaro and you went with high flow cats, instead of long tube headers? you could probs gain 50HP from long tubes and retune. and it would sound better and run better.

Do the JBA hi-flow cat midpipes need an extender for the rear O2 sensors- like the Solo midpipes-in order to avoid a CEL? Thanks.

Well got the pipes off finally. Mid pipes where before the supercharger and now for christmas I got my 2'' ARH headers and straight pipes put on the car. They are awesome and sometime late spring I hopefully will be getting my adm performance stage 2 cam put in the car. I think it will get a before and after for the cam if so I will post the numbers it throws down with long tube headers over highflow cats. If you look at my build journal you can see what it dyno'd at so far. I will probly put up my midpipes forsale when I get a chance!!!
