10/13/08 - What a great day!

Got to order a 2010 Camaro
Dow is up 936 pts or 11%
GM stock is up 33%
Weather was perfect while driving my 76 Camaro to go order my 2010 (which helps since it doesn't have A/C.)

Perhaps the positive energy of Camaro enthusiasts ordering and thinking about Camaros had other positive effects such as driving up the markets.

I hope everyone else enjoyed it and got to order a Camaro if they were ready.
If you couldn't order today, hopefully you can in the future.

Thanks fbodfather and others supporting the Camaro and providing info. I've been silent here while keeping the faith. It was great to order "MY" Camaro today with a positive dealer experience. I hope GM is happily suprised by the number of orders they receive. I now look forward to when I can drive MY Camaro and then it will be an even better day.

I've been thinkgin the exact same thing all day... even being at this job I ahte couldn't kill my mood and I'm not even ordering today!

See...the auto market hasn't been having problems selling cars....its just that the whole world has been holding out on new car purchases to wait for the Camaro to come out.

I have been holding out for years. My daily driver is a Dodge Intrepid ES with over 216,000 miles which I bought new in 1998. I have the money to buy a replacement but nothing has interested me enough to spend my money.

I test drove a 2009 Mazda 6i Grand Touring Saturday. It was fully loaded with blind spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, dual zone climate control, push button start, navigation system and more for $28,800 (cheaper than a CTS with such features). The Mazda 6 was nice but just not exciting to me for some reason.

The Camaro is exciting so I'm ready to open my wallet.

Nice! There's your down payment I guess. As soon as I sell my Cutlass I'm putting the money in stocks (including GM) and using that as my down payment. I'm still unsure whether we really hit a bottom or if this is just a blip, so I'm going to be a little cautious.

I knew this was the best in class camaro with out it being released, But holly cow! The camaro really impressed my on how much it brouhgt up the dow. Is this true where did you here this becuase with economy right now bringing up dow is not a piece of cake, and to almost being called a gm record, this is crazy!

I don't think the first day of pre-ordering a Camaro had much to do with the dow recovering 11+% in one day. It was due to the success of overseas markets, and the feds promise to insure banks and such. Also, there has to be some sort of bottoming out point, where stocks get so low people can't keep from buying. That was friday, and thus the market shot up yesterday.
