Just got CAI Intake in and had a question...

I was checking out the parts as I plan to install this weekend and my stomach sunk when I saw that the intake piping appeared to be dented in...however I wanted to see if maybe this was normal and the design of the pipe and I'm just worrying for no reason?

Definitely not normal. It should be symetrical. Contact the vendor or manufacturer and get it replaced.

I doubt he will make you pay shipping on a damaged product. I am sure you will get that back.

Yup and this weekend was perfect too, girlfriend visiting parents, plenty of time to relax and enjoy it after installed...no point complaining I guess.

I guess bending it back isn't a viable/safe option huh? I'm hoping the manufacturer can send me a new tube and I can send the old one back or throw it away but I doubt it will be that convenient.

Well technically it's most likely UPS's fault. I've dealt with a claim w/ them before (subwoofer and enclosure) and it was a HORRIBLE experience, took me months to get it resolved. I'm praying I dont have to deal with that.

CAI Inc. All I heard was good things about the performance of the intake so I'm hoping their customer service matches. I am not sure if this needs to be addressed to the vendor or the manufacturer though. If they send me a new tube with minimal wait I'll be very happy. I dont even mind paying the shipping on something small like that if I had to.

IMO I would see if someone will credit back some $ and you can just straighten it out.. or should say round it out. will be mostly covered by a rubber end I assume.

That is what I would do for ya.It is called customer service.

But on another note....Very easy to bend that back into position.

I'm hoping that piece will be sent to me but if not I may have to consider, I sent a PM to CAI INC since it's something they can address directly as Janetty would have to go to them anyway I'm sure unless he has replacement parts in stock for that unit which I doubt.

Thanks Andy. On another note I've heard very good things about your company's service! I know two guys around here w/ Camaros and I've reccomended your company and CAI based off what I've heard about service/quality of product.

Send a message via MSN to CamaroFTW
Do a DIY article in the forums on bending this sucker back and then ask CAI for $50 for the effort. They can still do a UPS claim for under $100 and they wont ask for part back or question it. We have to do them all day long and usually have UPS claim checks in 10 days.

No kidding, man bend the thing back into place. You can probably do it withyour two thumbs placed in the middle of the dent. I would have had it on the car 15 mins after recieving it. It wont hurt anything to bend it back out. just dont rough it up on the inside, or the pretty outside. Then see if they want to give you a little money, or just enjoy your 5 second dent removal job and slap that baby on there and go.

I know for a 100% fact the tube did not leave our shop like that. I don't know what happened but I personally inspected every tube prior to shipping the last batch(having some issues with our current ceramic coater). I'm guessing it was damaged during shipping. We will replace the tube and deal with UPS later. -James

Awesome! Thanks James and everyone else who helped. I am going to try and fix it myself when I get out of work today and if it doesn't look right still I am going to send the tube back to CAI. Glad I dont have to send the whole thing back!
