At least on late models, I have not noticed the Chevy bow tie badged on the Corvette, instead the classic duel flag Corvette emblem (since first gen?). I have not noticed a Ford oval on the Mustang (since first Gen?), only the classic Mustang in stride emblem.

To me this puts those cars in a different realm than "regular" cars. Its like the "single name" status for celebrities.

Hasn't the Camaro merited this status with is long history, heritage and legend?...To have its own badge.

What other cars have this?

BTW, I am by no means an american car historian. Please excuse any ignorance I have displayed and feel free to educate!

I agreed with what your saying. They need to lose the bowties and save them for on the trucks like they used to do. I would much rather see the SS in the center with out that ugly bowtie. Someone came up with that gold bowtie many years ago and chevy has beat it to death sticking it on the front of everything except for the corvette. I agree it cheapens the car up.

Although this is a tradition amongst American cars, this isn't a tradition anywhere else. It's also not a consistent tradition. For example the Ford GT supercar has a blue oval on it, and all Porsches/Ferraris have the same logo on it.

I think that a separate brand should be created just for performance cars. You want a regular Chevy or Ford, then go to the regular brands. You want a performance Chevy or Ford? Then go to the "CSV" or "FPV" brand (or whatever they want to call it). (CSV = Chevrolet Special Vehicles; FPV= Ford Performance Vehicles)

IMO, the old school SS emblems dont even belong on the 5th Gens. If you wanted a 1st Gen, you should have gotten a 1st Gen.

These weren't just 1st gen emblems. These were the SS emblems from the 1st, 2nd and 4th gen SS Camaros. I think they look the best and am going to have SLP SS emblems front and rear when I get mine.

If the bowtie on front shows yeah its a CHEVY and helps the sales so be it. i'm in the car driving it not out side looking at it pass. Sometimes I forget what color it is, i'm in it more then out where we belong. I like the "SS" but not the Slp ones i love the new 5th gen ss logos a lot better. Im a artist i have weird @$$ tastes some times.

I actually -like- the bowtie on mine. The little bit of gold coloring goes well with the dark blue body color.

I like the bow tie, and i like the redwhiteblue camaro emblem, but i think it would have looked odd and out of place on this car.i cant tell you why it would look weird, it just doesnt fit the car for me.

Come to think of it, my 1980 and 1984 Z28 didnt have the bowtie on the front. I think they had the red/white/blue - much better.

I really like the Bowtie on the front of mine, the gold goes great with my IBM. I don't think it was necessary to have it duplicated on the trunk lid though so I'm thinking of getting it replaced with C-A-M-A-R-O, perhaps it will help cut down the number of "Nice Mustang dude" comments.

The kicker is they haven't even gotten their Camaro yet, it should be in soon. We get a lot of people asking about them and are keeping more in stock now. I agree, the Camaro should have something a little different
