How It Works

Here you go my friend...

This device combines the effort of an electronic-driven accelerator and a computer program in the car.

The software drives the accelerator according to engine specifications to make the car accelerate smoothly and as fast as possible, avoiding spinning of the drive wheels, engine failure due to over-revving and clutch and gearbox problems.

This feature is only available at the start of the race, when the car is stopped in the starting grid. After the car is running at a certain speed, this device stops its work.

you dont need it on the automatic, you can depress the gas and keep your foot on the brake....

on my bmw m3 e92 I have the smg([sequential manual gearbox] double-clutch semi-manual w/paddle shifting) transmission, and the launch control on THAT is a way of putting the precise amount of power to the rear wheels to attain maximum acceleration without wheelspin, and shifts at calculated "optimal" points to again enhance acceleration...

They should do something similair on the TAPshift... It was confusing enough to learn it the first time...

that means bad news i think or at least a little bypassing, i know on the mustang they supercharged them and the traction control or whatever they have kicks in cutting fuel to cut the throttle and reduce spin and then detonates the engine, then kaboom.

Thanks for the information. If I remember correctly, you have to actually activate it right? It isn't something that is available unless you do ..

on my roomates mach1 mustang his traction control is on by default when you start the car and you have to hit the little button near the shifter to turn it off, but other wise its on all the time. i'm sure they have a permanent disconnect for them though.

I think you're getting mixed up between traction control and launch control, launch control is only active for initial acceleration from a dead stop. It is only on when you turn it on ahead of time.
