Camaro LS3 Timing Chian Failure

I have been reading a lot for Corvette LS3 timing chain failure but I want to make sure will this problem applies on our cars as well?

I am planning to install camshaft package on my LS3 and I want to know if some one had this experience before especially with UD pulley upgrade like SLP.

Any recommendations and advice are highly appreciated.

Thanks,

I haven't heard of any issues with the camaro's timing chain. I've been on this site over a year

Well that's good news to me. I thought our engine is the same as the Corvette? How come they are having this issue while we do not?

Thanks,

I too read about some 'limited' issues...it certainly wasn't systemic.

It was a 'cheap' upgrade to have the timing chain replaced with the C5R chain during the cam swap.

Search for "katech c5r timing chain" and you'll find bunches of info.

So you are saying replacing the timing chain with katech c5r timing chain is the solution? Do I need to replace mine too when I do the cam swap?

I think he was saying that with a more aggressive cam, swapping the chain out while the car is apart is some cheap insurance. If the chain brakes and you put a new cam in, you will not be covered under the factory warrantee.

That's what I did...just to be safe.

It appears to be one of the best 'easy' replacements...you could do a double roller...but that would cost more for parts and labor....
