X-pipe question

Has anyone replaced their resonator in an L99 with an X-pipe before replacing/remove the stock mufflers? I was wondering if there is a benefit (sound, performance, etc.) before I just do the muffler delete and replace the stock trash can lids with straight pipes.

Thanks,
Dave

I have the LS3, M6. I did the muffler delete and replaced the "H" pipe with the Magnaflow "Tru X" pipe. All the work cost $240.00 and the sound is remarkable. Can't go wrong for the price, fairly cheap price for sound vs thousand or so dollars for cat-backs..

That's kinda what I was thinking. Thanks for the info. Sounds like I might be doing this in the near future.

Are you running the 2.5" or 3" model?

2.5 inch, I have the Kooks complete system with 1 7/8 long tube headers, catless 3 inch system sitting in the garage but I don't have time to get it installed before the wedding.

The only reason I am going with that is because also after the wedding/honeymoon, I putting in ported heads with the Comp Cam kit (cam, rockers, etc)
If I wasn't doing the cam/heads I would keep the exhaust as is. I love the deep throaty sound, reminds of my 69 SS/RS 396 big block
