Question about window tint and the auto dimming mirrors...

I am getting my windows tinted (5% tint) on Friday and was wondering if the tint will effect the auto dimming of the rear view and driver side mirrors? Probably a stupid question but since the headlights behind me won't be as bright on the sensor I was just wondering.

Not sure but at night with 5% you won't be able to see out the windows, a friend of mine has a real tough time in her expedition at night. Also watch out for cops that dark, up here another friend had to pull it off his mustang. Just a heads up.

Here in SC we can have 20% on the Camaro back window and on the shorty qtr window on the side rear.
On the regular big side windows we must have 35%.

Because of the angle of the back window, at the legal 20% it looks like it is 5%.

I have 5% on my back window and 20% on the sides, I can see fine at night, I'm switching the sides to 5% soon.

Seems like a good way to draw unnecessary attention to yourself. Check the state laws above, the darkest allowed is 15% on rear by any state.

I am well aware of the laws and have had 5% on my last 4 cars. I have only been pulled over once for the tint and got out of it because I knew the trooper (I'm a firefighter). Only 2 troopers in the area even have meters and I can avoid their patrol area (toll road). One county deputy has a meter but since I work for the county I more than likely would get out of it with him. If I see a trooper coming my way I am in the habit of lowering the windows anyway since I have had 5% for years. The worst that can happen is they give you a ticket and you pay it, you don't have to remove the tint. If I couldn't do 5% I wouldn't bother tinting the windows, I want no one to be able to see inside. Anyway my question was about the mirror sensor........any input on that?

Well, since the sensor for both mirrors is in the rear view mirror (there is only one channel), less light will make it to the sensor through the back glass, so the mirrors will not get as dark. But also less light will get through the windows through your eyes. I think it evens its self out. I noticed no difference when i went to 15% on the back and 25% on the front.

Look up the exemptions. If you have a job that requires you to carry expensive equipment....like mine (firefighter) you might be able to get an exemption letter. Im going through the process right now in La.

you can go as dark as you want on the rear in california. they only pull you over if you are tinted on the sides

Always cracks me up how OH is one of the most tint-friendly states but is still running the 2-plate law.

Anyone see that?

Seriously look it up. Here in Lousiana, it doesnt say what the job has to be. It just says if you feel you need a higher security you can apply.

That's incorrect. Utah has no restriction on tint other than front doors. Every other window can be as dark as you want.

I stand corrected. There are some states that allow any % in certain locations. Wow! I have nothing against tint, as a matter of fact i plan to tint as well. I just would not go darker than the law allowed.

Ive got 5% on mine back 3 window's and 35% on the 2 front. I have no trouble at all seeing and the sensor still works just fine.
I thought that it was going to be worse, but i love it!!!

Even the installed was suprised on how good you can still see with the 5% on a Camaro!! The look of the 5% is awesome
