CAI Inc in Black?

I'm wondering if anyone has the CAI Inc intake in Black. Yes I know it looks cool in the aluminum, but its not the look I'm going for and I'm wanting to get it in black.

Anyone either painted or powder coated theirs and if so can you post some pictures?

thanks

Mine is supposed to get shipped this week (maybe?) but when i get it i'm going to paint it high temp black. The polished is nice, but doesn't match anything else in my bay... I'll let you know how it goes when I get it.

CAI will powder coat it black for you. You just need to call them or you could PM them, they are on this site.

CAI will powder coat it black for $50 bucks more. Was gonna get mine done but decided to keep it chrome. I wasn`t worried about the $$$$$ but my 1969 has chrome in the engine bay so decided the 2010 would too.

Black looks good. The only problem, it doesn’t reflect radiant heat like the high luster ceramic.

CAI Inc....
I suspect there would still be performance gains though, correct? Care to guestimate how much hp/tq gains we can expect from the powder-coated version as compared to the ceramic-coated version?

I agree. It totally rocks! Much better looking than the original ceramic coated version or any other competitor model in my opinion. However, the big question is...how much HP/TQ will we be giving up to go this route vs. the ceramic coated version? If it gains only a couple of HP/TQ less than the ceramic, I'll go for it but if it is not much better than the stock box/tube then I'll have to re-think this...

Its hard to put a number on the loss in power. To many variables. It's more of a heat soak issue. Is the loss going to be huge, probably not but there is a difference.

Bears-SS, did you do that yourself? Did you paint or powder coat it?

Thanks for the response CAI, it doesn't make the choice any easier.

Just go for your color. It is not that big of a gain or loss either way.You still get the cool look and the great craftsmanship along with the excellent sound of the unit.I have one and love it for the above reasons. You won't be disappointed I guarantee it!

I have a paint guy. He was painting my GFX/tail light bezels and had some left over paint for the CAI and door locks. Now I'm going to have him paint the engine cover and it'll dress it up nicely, I think.

We saw Colton's CAI in black at a local car show / Camaro gathering earlier this month and ordered one the same day from Apex. It is my wife's car and she was on the fence about the correct CAI for her until we saw the CAI in black and it was a done deal. Thanks again, Colton ! I received word yesterday that they are supposed to ship this week and we are looking forward to the installation.

They shipped out yesterday, you should have already received your tracking info. If not, shoot me a message and I'll get it sent to you.

I ordered mine on Saturday and I don't see a tracking number for my order on the Apex website. My order number is 127.
Thanks,
RD

PM sent. The ones that went out were the new black CAI intakes, the truck with our regular CAIs should be here in a couple of days.
