Like I said, to me it seems like the issue is that the 1SS has so few options. I feel like it should be more like a 1LT is to a 2LT. Not more comparable to the LS like it is now.
Great point. The 1SS is definitely under-optioned for the V8 class and the money. But isn't that what he graph shows? That's what I gleaned from it.

I tell you what though, in a few years if and when I decided to buy a used SS as a track car, then it will probably be a 1SS......easier to gut

I have the most popular Model and Color. (Black, 2SS/RS) If they would have had Summit White when I got my car, I would have gotten it.. I love the White..

I read the graph and thats what I understood. When V8 purchasers had the option to go with the 1SS they ignored the model by a significant ratio and I think an assumption can be made there that most owners were thinkin "if I can spend money on a V8, then I can afford the extra 3K"

Parallel that to the 1LT vs 2LT numbers the graph clearly shows a closer competition and obviously just as many 1LT owners saw value in that model because of affordability and no need for the extra options. Hell thats why I went with that model.

I don't think any Camaro model is useless, but the graph clearly shows that consumers don't see almost as much value in a 1SS as a LS model. And those consumers aren't V6 owners they are fellow SS owners who opted for the 2SS model instead.
When you hit bottom quit digging, and most here, know what happens when you assume, I bought the car I wanted, no if ands or buts... I assure you $3K was not the deciding factor, heck I'll have spent more than that on mods... The car is a just a down payment on accessories.

im curious on how many manuals vs automatics being sold as well. Im surprised that IOM wasnt as high. It seems that it is falling off a little according to the numbers. Once i saw IOM i absolutely fell in love with it, never thought i would buy an orange car though. I always planned on getting an 02 ta and get it burnt orange with black stripes. It was just an idea that i figured would never happen bc orange was just a wild idea, but low and behold the camaro took the spot on that idea.
(Was hoping for burnt orange in the beginning but the IOM grows on you, love it way more)
I got the v6 because it was either the v6 or nothing. I really wanted to get the first official production 2010 model year and i like the bells and whistles. Before i always thought i would never use some features like blue tooth for explain but i use it all the time. Features are nice even if you dont think you will use them but you might surprise yourself. Now if you know that you will never use them then save some money. Gauges arent a necessity but its a nice styling feature. And i love the leather seats.
Fully loaded 2LT V6 for me

That's exactly why I got the 1ss, and I hate leather... I like that I never see IBM around town. I like it, that's why I got it, but I only saw about 4 or 5 at Camaro Fest.

Two people actually asked me how much my custom paint job cost...

Seems like, the 1ss is almost a useless model to offer, because if someone is going to to get the V8 they might as well get the 2ss, because its absolutely illogical to spend the money on the SS and not get the full model.

Now compare that to the narrow gap between 2lt and 1lt. Looks like the 1LT owners didn't see the point of spending any more change, because they wanted to stay at a certain pricepoint. But combine the 2 numbers and you have almost 35% of the market being V6 Camaros.
The 1SS seems like its for the people who don't want to spend the $$ or they don't want to spend the money on the options cause they are gonna do their own thing, like rip out the seats, toss in some Recaros, custom dash panels, add all sorts of horsepower under the hood, install a sick stereo system... all that jazz...

Actually, it seems to me that the biggest turn-off for people who opted for the 1SS vs the 2SS was that they didn't want the leather seats. Unfortunately it also cost them the gauge pack, and C&C which in their defense, sucks. At a minimum, the C&C should have been offered as an upgrade on the 1SS. That alone probably would have made the build numbers much closer. My .02

Interesting, i didnt expect the colors to be that even. I remember when the car first came out and GM didnt have white listed as an option although it was definatly available, there was like a .3% rating on it and i was like "daaamn, collectors item!" hahaha
Now i think the Aqua Blue Metallic ones are gonna be collectors, i LOVED that color and was really aggrivated when they gave it the boot for no apparent reason >=/

And as for model im really into the 1SS its just annoying that the gauge pack is missing, and idk what the C&C you mention is but im sure id miss that too haha. Im just not a fan of leather, it looks awsome but its harder to stay planted in your seat, it gets rediculously hot in the summer and rediculously cold in the winter, its harder than cloth, i just preffer the cloth myself. But dealerships will allow you to order and install the guage packs on 1SS Camaros, so its not a total loss, thats what id do

C&C is the bluetooth, usb, and steering wheel radio controls. Convenience and Connectivity package. Oh, and there's no ridiculously cold in the winter problem with the leather- they're heated seats.

Well guess I will chime in here! As far as a consumer the 1SS is kinda useless (and I own one and LOVE IT) in the sense that I figured GM would offer SS, Z28, V6, and so on. Say you want an SS "would you like cloth or leather, would you like blue tooth, how about the gage pack"YADA YADA! But for GM it's not! For most of us on here are HARD CORE CAMARO LOVER'S which is a pretty small market for GM and belive me they know this! They want to expand the market to all the masses so they sell enough cars to keep offering BAD @ SS car's for the for the HARD CORE group such as us!! You see most of us on here know a TON of stuff about the camaro but most people don't! Hell When I told people WE ORDERED ONE in sept. they didn't even know GM was gonna make them!!! Just my 2cent's!!! Oh and PROUD OWNER of a 1SS IN CGM!!!!!!

xD got me there, i can do without the C&C though, i was never a fan of all the bells and whistles car companies try to sell you on lol =P
so id definatly go 1SS if i were in the market for a Camaro
Just order the gauge pack seperate and have it installed, the only thing i might miss is the ambient lighting, im not a fan of frills but that one actually really peaked my interest.

G10, I agree with you. I get a ton of compliments about my Aqua blue metallic. I guess I should be grateful they pulled the color because it will make my car even more rare.

Dammit. Every option I want is at least in the top 3. Guess I'll be driving the status quo of Camaros. Oh well, who cares. Not me.

Id take a 1SS over a 2LT anyday. Its not illogical. Most car people buy Camaros for the engine. Not cause its pretty. If they only made a V6 I wouldn't own a Camaro.
