I did notice the center speaker had "Made in China" on it. But...then again...prolly all the speakers in the Boston system are made there.

So much for peoples' arguement that by buying one of these cars you are supporting American workers.

Hey, I'm sure the Chevy executives live in America. Technically, they're 'American workers', right???

yeah that shit kills me. Not specifically with GM, but pretty much any random so called american company, you look and most of there factories are in mexico, canada etc, everywhere but on US soil. I really hate this shit. But i dont blame just them, the gov is a huge enabler. They need to start punishing companies that do this instead of giving them tax breaks. Even when i was a little kid, with very limited understanding the shit didnt seem right, like why is my #2 pencil made in china? But with cars its a little different, there is no way to get a 100% made in anywhere vechile because all the parts made all over the world. My last car was a honda, made where? In the US, go figure. Now i have 2 GM cars and one i know was made in canada, not sure where they make the malibu. But at least when i go in for service that money is going right back into my actual community.

anyway to keep this thread on topic.

anyone have any ideas for putting something else in the spot where the speaker is now? After unplugging it, it just seems like its waiting for a mod.

Kansas City, Kansas

Remove the speaker, create a box with lid to hold your other belongings.

Someone else suggested it can become your stash box for um well almost anything small enough to fit in this little hole.

Probably can fit a half pint, and you can start running moonshine.

Create some brackets to hold your GPS and/or radar detector.

Sunglasses holder, change holder, turn it into a humidor.

The list is endless, let the imagination go wild.

And it has to be the style where the actual gauge mounting hole faces are angled toward the driver!

If someone made something functional for that spot I would definitely buy it...but too much work for me to make something that can cover the whole completely (gotta make sure nothing falls down that hole)

Now that it has been mentioned a few times. Who is going to build us the gauge pod, and what gauges are going to mount in this location. Some of us already have the four gauges below. I can understand one being for boost if you run boost. But what else do we need to monitor. I like the idea of placing the dash hawk in this location.

Scrming will it fit and look right?

I like the original guy's idea (he was suggesting using it for a stash spot) although not for drugs. But for well anything. I have the 4 gauge pack, and the HUD, i don't need any more gauges. However, since I have the 4 gauge pack, i have little room for other things. If someone forms a nice holder in there with some kind of easy snap lid or something, i could use it for all sorts of stuff; loose change for example.

That's just my opinion. I would buy that, i would not buy a gauge pod

Probably would be a 2 place pod.... so boost and A/F... now I just need to get a turbo! LOL!

Ok... actually i bet you could get 3 gauges... Boost, A/F and Fuel (for the SS guys). With our DI i don't think we'll see fuel gauge... so not sure what I would do in the 3rd... hmmmm remote radar detector! LOL

Okay read the whole thread and went after it. The speaker cover had plastic clips on the right and metal on the left. The metal clips are different and are one-way in that they are not really designed to be removed. I broke off one of the plastic tabs on the speaker cover because if the metal clip. And i know how to remove interior panels so no, it was not due to being reckless. Beware: if you have metal clips on your cover be careful! So anyway after that I played with the stereo with and without the speaker connected. I agree with those that say all it does is keep the cent speaker from drowning out the stereo sound. I think the center speaker sound kicks off the windshield and is too overpowering. I wish i had control over it's power because I think e system would be better with it connected. But as has been said on here already, it is just too loud and obnoxious. Overall verdict: left it disconnected.

Same thing happened to me. Pull the grill back out, bend that side of grill downwards (don't worry it wont break unless you use too much force) and put it back in.

lol, unless i use too much force? How much is too much? Everyone on here had said it was too simple to screw up yet I managed anyway....not very happy about this. but I will try and fix it tonight. Thanks Darkone.

On a side note...Who's going to come up with a compartment holder or something for the center speaker spot...i am thinking sunglasses holder with a button that pops up the top?

I'd buy that...

I can't believe all the hoopla over unplugging the center channel. Of course it will make the BA sound better because the center is really a POS. Well, the so is the the entire BA system but the center is worse...

So I checked out the amp in back of the drivers tail light. I don't have a yellow wire?? It is the BA system, so which one leads to the center speaker?

No idea. Best way to disconnect is to unplug the speaker itself.

Remove the speaker grill.
Unscrew the 2 hex screws in place. Pull the speaker up and unplug. You also might want to tape the cable to the speaker before replacing the grill so it doesn't fall down into the dash.
