Caliper Mod

So I received my G2 Orange Brake Caliper paint kit yesterday and went right to work. Jacked up the car, got all the wheels off, put it on jack stands, then went to town. It took around 5 hours. I took my time as to not screw anything up, but I am very happy with the results. Here are some pics below... I'll post some more once I have the wheels back on the car later.

How is the finish of the brushed on paint? Do you think you can put decals back on them?

This G2 Paint Kit seems to give a decent gloss. A brushed on finish will never look the same as a sprayed on finish, but I'm very pleased with it. After three to four coats, it looks like they were sprayed.

I don't see the Decals having a problem sticking to the painted Calipers. After this G2 paint cures for 24 Hrs, it really hardens up.

Thanks It was time consuming and tedious, but it was worth it. I'm going to put the wheels on, I'll post some pics after.

I put on the Brembo decals, then sprayed clear coat over them. What I'm finding is that the paint is chipping. Each time the wheels are taken off, they are getting scrapped ;(

You did a good job!

Brake Cleaner Included with the Kit. I did scuff it up a bit with a wire brush when using the brake cleaner, then just wipe it with a rag.

It's G2's orange, not the color match. The color match is $99.00, the kit I got was G2's orange for $42. It really really looks awesome to me.... Really sets off the car.
Drove around the block and took some pictures, tell me what you think....

ok im seriously considering doing this in White, but the problem is that im a total noob when it comes to car parts. calipers are the things that attach to your brake pads to break?

Do you need to take off the calipers to paint them? and if you do, how do you take them off? after you paint them, do you need a torque wrench to torque it back to a certain whatever lbs? also are there certain parts where you should not paint because they will need to be removed and will cause it to chip and crack?

Sorry my english is bad lol. Thanks guys.

I teach woodworking at a High School so I'm not that Car Savy either, but anyone can do this, you just need to take your time and not skip any steps. If you look at the pics I posted, paint exactly what I painted. Make sure you mask off the brake pads and surrounding areas. If you get any paint where you don't want it, use the supplied brake cleaner and a rag to remove it.
DO NOT TAKE THE CALIPERS OFF, especially if your "noob". I left mine on, and it came out just fine. Make sure you clean them well. This paint hardens up pretty well, I just painted the entire caliper, underside and all.

sorry quick question. If you didnt take the calipers off, how did you fit all that painter's tape in between your calipers? is the gap wide enough to allow you to slip it in?

If my fingers were too big, I used a long thin screw driver to attach the tape anywhere I needed it. Most of the areas were accessible with just applying the masking tape by hand. It's pretty easy once you get the wheels off and start doing it.

I too used the G2 Orange brush Kit. Its been about 8 months and is just as good as new. It took me about the same amount of time to do mine.

Wow guys this looks good for a brush job.

For the guy asking, removing calipers is a piece of cake. 4 bolts and they come off... the big thing is bleeding the brakes, but this too is simple.

I will be doing this over the winter when the car is down. I am going to do red and remove/spray them. While I am at it I will flush the fluid, add stainless braided lines and new pads.

Good job again!
