widest tire without mods is a 285 as per info at indy, so that would mean that stock rims are the widest you can fit.....but with mods we can probably fit more.

dont buy the rims before the car gets here though, your only asking for trouble.

I think these win.

These would not fit the Camaro without some slight modification.

I dont know much about tires, etc but cant you change the offset to push the rim out more and let them fit? A slightly bulging tire with the gorgeous hips would look AMAZING!

That's what I was hoping for. Looking at the stocks in photos it looks like there's an inch or two left between the wheel face and the lip of the wheel well. I mean 305's are only like 2 inches wider than the stock tires right?

unless you are putting all 2 inches towards the outside you are going to rub....

We would definitely need to change the offsets ordered on the rims in order to make this work, that's for sure.

I'm new to Camaros, but not to adding wider meats to the rear of my cars. With offset rims, Mustangs can go from 245s stock to 315s without rubbing and without sticking out past the fender. I'm guessing (hoping) the Camaro will likely be the same.

Let me tell you from personal experience that a set of 315s on the back of any muscle car looks incredible

Yep. I'd love 315's as well. If it ends up being possible, cutting the original rims and adding a spacer to them to widen the rim is always an option. I'd love to keep the stock rims, but have them wider out back.

I felt around in the fenderwell, there's a pretty good gap between the tire and inner panel. I didn't check gap between strut and wheel/tire, that may be the limiting factor. The silver car had 275/40 ZR 20's on back

If someone comes up with the correct offset wheel, I don't see why a 305 won't fit .. I mean the 275s on my 04 cobra were pretty tight, but with the correct offset wheel, I was able to do a 10 inch rim and 305's with no other modifications.

That is one thing I don't like about this car .. why would they lock you in to a max width wheel STOCK .. they should allow for more aftermarket or GMPP wheels with larger widths for those who want them ..

My guess is that aftermarket companies will find a way to do this without "tubbing the well or serious modifications" .. if not ... it will be a damn shame as it is always nice to have more tire out back when you start getting more HP up front

Note even that much

275 mm
10.8267 inches

305 mm
12.007 inches

That's the plan!! Either spacers, a higher offset, or a combination of both. I'm pretty sure the IRS leaves no room on the inside, but with those wide 1/4's GM left us plenty of room on the outside face. The problem I forsee is that I wanted a drop also.

Cutting up the original wheels wouldn't really work would it? The spoke design dictates that any width you add to the rim would push the inside edge closer to the inner fender instead of adding a lip to the outside edge. I suppose you could combine it with a spacer but then you increase the risk of lug bolt failure.

Well if you added 2" inches (11" new wheel) to the width it would give you less room in the back, but if you add a 2" spacer I'd think that would even it out. I'm no expert on wheels by any means, but that just seems to make sense. The only problem you may have left is clearance on the ouside, but looking at pix of the pre-po's it seems like there's room to play with. I've already started researching some companies that widen wheels around me; I can't find any wheels that look better than the stock wheels and are wide enough to accomdate the tires I want so this looks like a good plan for me... widen em, powder coat em black and throw some spacers on! You can easily fit 315's on an 11 inch wheel.

I was also thinking what if you were to widen the 8" front wheels to place on the rear by 2.5 - 3", then put the stock rears on the front with a 1" spacer... that way you can have wider meats all aorund and it'll be way cheaper than widening on 4 wheels.

Headpunter - Can't you just hit someone up for the current Front and Rear Offsets for the 20's and 21's ? We can do the calcs from there on what the offset increase would need to be or the combo of offset and spacer would have to be.

Thanks
