****Convoy Info From The West****

I will be crossing through the Port Huron/Sarnia border. Anybody coming from the west that wants to meet up with me, please let me know! We are leaving Thursday, August 19th.

I have been told that it is much less time consuming to go this way than to go through Windsor.

Please email me at anna@spartachevy.com or PM me. I will be figuring out two places to meet up with people, one just before Port Huron in Michigan and one once we are into Canada, maybe where the 402 meets the 401.

My caravan is heading out of the Sparta/West Michigan area some time between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. This should put us at the Sarnia crossing AROUND 3:45 to 4:45 pm. We will stop to the Blue Water Bridge Duty Free Shop (http://www.bluewaterbridgedutyfree.com/) on the way through and I am thinking we should be at the 401/402 an hour and 45 minutes later (allowing a half hour to shop) around 5:30 or 6:15 pm. This should put us arriving in Oshawa around 8:15 pm to 9:00 pm.

These are all estimates. If anybody looks at this and says 'She's Crazy!', please let me know. I am relying on Mapquest for my time estimates! lol

So, let's get this party started!

Anna, from my memory...LOL That is BAD btw....
We left around 1-2 from my house and arrived @ the hotel around 9-10 pm. Is that right? Maybe Lynn will remember.
Noonish I think would be best. Mapquest says 6.5 hrs from here, but I know it took longer.
Is it better to shop on the way in or out? Maybe both

Eric's flight lands here (GR, not Sparta) at 12:20, so we'll have to wait at least until he gets in. I think you're right, we were at the hotel around 9-ish.

And I am for shopping on the way there and back! Vodka doesn't grow on trees, you know! lmao

You'll save at least an hour travel time from GR. Look on the map and you'll see that going through Sarnia is a straight line to Oshawa compared to going down to Detroit and then back up the 401.

Yes, that's the way Angel and I took last year (thru Sarnia). Worked out great.

I could probably change the hotel reservations and come on Thursday if you wanted.

I live like 2 miles from I69, right off of US127, Sarnia was the path I had picked to go.

I'll just have to make sure to remove my radar detector. Even though it is pretty hidden and stealth, I don't want any problems.

I think since the summer is here and the big spring events are over, we'll have many more jump on board.

I think the number will probably stabilize around mid-July. I just saw this thread again after a few days, and it reminds me that I need to call the insurance company and get the special little Canadian Insurance Card so my Camaro is covered once I hit Ontario.

When the revised and more detailed agenda gets announced in early July I expect to gather a few additions. But don't forget to invite your friends to come party in Canada
