Gosh, I hate those HATERS

Hi Guys,

Man, sometimes I can't stand being asian. Because most of my friends are asians... and they are under the assumption that American cars are crappy cars. Sigh... I've posted before about my friends being dumb and narrow minded. But yeah, I was just ticked off, had to vent lol. Not like this would really help much... but yeah.

Quote from him, "Domestic car?........ Really?"

Funny, when I went to this autoshow, all the asians were surrounding the imports, BMW, Mercedes... I was the only asian interested in American cars LOL. Ridiculous. But honestly, i think i'm the black sheep for both sides. It's weird for a 5'6" asian to drive an american pony i'll admit, but I love it, don't think i would drive anything else =p

Is a bit weird, but even here in the midwest I see lots of asian's in BMW's...or souped up "street racer" style cars. Not sure the appeal and how it connects to ethnic background, but sure there is something to it.

But as a person is has always gone against the grain just a bit, since I choose to drive what I like, I say "you drive what you enjoy"...life is too short not to enjoy the "ride".

My neighbor is trying to lessen his "carbon" stamp by using "green" cars, and a battery powered mower....while I sit an H2, H3 with a V8 under the hood, and my 2SS manual in the driveway along with my eight kids.....seems I'm committed to making sure my carbon stamp is big and leaves an impression.....My wife and I just believe in driving what you like (we've both had some rough times and know that life can be taken away just like that).

BE UNIQUE!!!! Drive whatever you personally enjoy driving and who cares what other's think!!!!

Dude, if you love it, who cares. The fact that you have the balls to think outside the box and defy the status quo is rocknroll in itself. Don't worry about those guys. They're just afraid that if they try it, they might like it

After 9/11/01 a friend of mine with a foreign car asked me where my flag decal was. I explained to him that I did not need a flag decal and walked him to the front of my black 1998 Z-28 and showed him the red, white and blue crest on the front facia. You will never need to feel embarassed by having an American car. The Camaros have been imports since the beginning of gen 4 anyways. Canada is not the U.S. of A., however, the money goes to GM in detroit who provides jobs for many Americans. The Asian car companies send the money back to Asia. I am of Irish decent, but I am an American, therefore, even if they started building cars in Ireland, I would still buy American. I earn my living here and I will spend my money here. Besides, what Asian company makes anything like our Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs and Challengers?

Lol. I got the same thing from my mom. She thinks only Japanese vehicles will last and was worried that I'd be that poor guy at the side of the road broken down. I'm also like you in that I had quite a few friends who only like imports and frown upon anything American. I'm a 5'11" asian and drive a pony. But I'm also a red blooded, .50 cal shooting American as well. The Camaro does not care what ethnicity you are. It accepts everyone.

There was a time when the average american wouldn't even look at a foreign car. All things change in time. What matters is that you buy the car you want. You're the one driving it. The truth is as time goes on friends will come and go. Some will stick around forever most will fade away.

It depends on where the PARENT company resides to whether they are considered Imports or domestics.. it does not matter where they are built.. Years ago you could use the location of build as a criteria, but since all auto companies that sell in the USA are now Global, the desigantion is no longer used. So since Fiat now owns Chrysler you can say they are an Import company now.. GM and Ford are still American Owned and operated so they are still domestic Companies...

So that being said, IF the American people had not started buying imported items (Not just cars) way back in the 50's, 60's and 70's, our economy would be much better today than it is.. but the greedy American consumer wanted their company to pay them high wages and benefits, so they could go out and buy the cheap imported goods from companies that paid their people hardly anything with no benefits at all and that that eventually made either American companies go out of business, or move a majority of their manufacturing out of the country..
Some may say they base their purchases not on price or location of manufacture but on quality... but if you look back the early imports were lesser quality than any American made product, and people only bought them based on price. This caused a loss of profits in the American companies, so they had to cut costs somewhere, and usually that resulted in lower quality items, while the foreign companies were making money hand over fist and could reinvest more into their products to make them better...

So basically what I am saying is the American people started us down the road to lost jobs and lower quality products. not the manufacturers themselves.

Sorry but being out of a job twice in my lifetime because of foreign competition has made me feel this way toward imported goods.

I remember an episode of the old TV Show Barny Miller, A Vietnamese refugee had come over to the USA and started his own business, and was very successful, there was a part where one of the detectives saw him all dressed in a fancy suit, and asked if it was Italian, he said No it was an America suit, I spend my money where I make it... If we all could only have done that years ago... maybe all of us would still have jobs...

At my shop it's German vs. Domestic. Everyone here drives either a VW, Audi, BMW, or Porsche. Except for me LOL One of my techs does own a '69 Camaro though They're all great guys, but keep trying to talk me into a VW or Audi. I'm playing along with them, but Camaro Scotty knows differently

That's assuming that the Asians that you are speaking of are not United States citizens. Most of my Asian friends are US citizens, either born here or naturalized.
I do agree that it is your money and no-one should tell you what to spend it on. However, the part about the free country is no longer true. I have seen our rights shrink in my lifetime. The second ammendment comes to mind. The first ammendment with regards to free speech has been co-opted by "politcal correctness".
