Even if it gets more power than CTS-V, I think the 6L90 in that car will make if over to Z28. I'm sure they could save some money on validation and all that good stuff by keeping Z28 a manual tranny, but I don't think it makes as much sense. I see people comment on the GT500 not having an auto', so I think there is a market for a slushbox Z28. IMVHO.

ummmm..... did any of you guys read that article?

They got the whole story from this site.
Quote:
It looks like customers opting for the upper trim levels on the Chevrolet Camaro will have to pay a little bit more when the 2011 models roll into showrooms this fall. According to a posting on the Camaro5 forum from a dealer employee, the 2LT and 2SS models will see a $350 price increase to $28,075 and $35,145, respectively. The LS, 1LT and 1SS models will carry over the 2010 prices so the 2011 Ford Mustang will retain a $535 for the V6 and $1,300 advantage for the V8 models.

The more interesting news is the apparent confirmation from General Motors' new VP of Global Vehicle Engineering, Karl Stracke to Motor Trend that the Z/28 will become a reality. Chevrolet officials have declined to comment on the matter, but we're guessing that it might appear sometime next year as a 2012 model. Motivation will likely be provided by a variant of the supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 found in the Cadillac CTS-V, with around 550 horsepower being channeled through a six-speed manual gearbox.

anyway, while we are discussing this. I want to get a Z28, but I will not if it's manual only.

I want my SS to be manual and the Z28 to be auto. No other ifs and buts about it for me. That's just a personal choice though.

You have to be one Hell-of-a-driver to drive a stick car past the same auto'-equipped car. I need to do some more research on how these cars react with good-sized converters. I was an auto'-hater until I stalled my car; after that :tweetz: I DO hope they offer an auto' though; they' be silly not to, unless it makes more power than the '90 could handle (then that would just be bad@$$ for another reason )

This guys comment is amazing.........

Rev 6:59PM (6/01/2010)

Please be joking. The Camaro has been a dated and bloated joke since the eighties. As far as I'm concerned it's easily one of the top five ugliest cars on the road today. In person they're simply hideous.

The big, bubbly plasticy look was acceptable two decades ago. Now? Not so much...

The Z28 WILL be a manual only. Real perfromance cars come in manuals only. Just like Z06 and ZR1. It just wrong to have a muscle car with a auto.

Really?... Not. Musclecars can have autos' and it's funny that most supercars pretty much have auto's (though they have actual clutches). I'll agree a stock auto' isn't as good as a manual, but a converter and shiftkit will make that auto' at least match a manual's performance, at least at the strip.

I always think it's kind of funny when someone walks up to my car, looks in, and then snubs their nose and asks why I "ruined" my car by getting an automatic.

Seriously?! You think a car is ruined because a $900 option was added that makes the car just as fast as a manual transmission car that starts off with 26 more horses?

I just can't follow their reasoning. Most people think manual transmissions are more fun to drive, but the 5 o'clock traffic where I live will make you beg for the automatic

Right. Most supercars have autos - that's the ONLY way they are capable of 3 second 0-60 times.

The fastest cars in the world are automatics. I think they should just because the GT500 does not. Some people just want to get in and drive. BTW my 2SS is a stick.
