The low zinc content in oil has been talked about for years in the flat-tappet cam world. A properly treated aftermarket roller cam SHOULD be fine without the zinc additive.

But who knows with the manufacturing today, 1 cam could be fine and the next a piece of junk.

Vengeance never told me to change my oil. I have no real reason not to trust them. But I suppose it can't hurt to just run the zinc stuff.

Sorry I have not been keeping up lately, I just read the last 3 pages, at this point, don't mess around, rebuild the complete engine top to bottom. The metal that came off the cam and lifter went through your whole engine and there are little pieces just waiting to float around and tear up more stuff. The only way to prevent continual problems is do it right, NOW. That of course is providing the new parts used don't prematurely fail.

It won't hurt. Roller cams "shouldn't" need it, if the metal is treated properly.

I'd be out really nothing but time if I just ran it providing I don't find any damage. To rebuild would be the same price either way since I'm doing the work myself.

Well, I'll buy the zinc stuff. It can't hurt.

How is the deal with the thing in that place coming along? Or are you too busy shoving your toes in the sand and drinking umbrella drinks?

Well I was doing that. Now it's back to the grind.

I should be buying a ticket today actually. haha

Not a snoballs chance in hell. engine is in a couple hundred pieces in my garage.

I still have to pull the motor this weekend.

Have some suspension work to do on Rebeccas car but only a few hours worth. Gotta get mine ready to pull. Engine mounts AC and Bell housing bolts plus a few sensor connectors should be all that's left.

But I'll be driving Bonnies Vette.
