V6 Viper chaser.
Found this today in my Camaro Performers mag. Gives me hope for my '01.
![]() A girl got an '00 V6 Camaro and decided she wanted to make it faster and prove V6s can be modded as well as a v8 and put out just as much HP. So she twin turboed her 3800 series II V6. and now her car is putting 475 hp with 15 lbs of boost and running 11.77 at 117 mph. She plans to up her boost to 22lbs and push the 600 hp mark and run in the low 10s. This gives me hope because I've been having a really hard time finding ways to up the HP in my V6. I'll most likely only single turbo my car since I don't use it for racing, but I'm hoping to get it around the 350-375 hp mark. The article for anyone interested is in the Nov issue of Camaro Performers.

The vipers here in Dallas are pushing out 1,100 HP
that is still very impressive for a V6 and some older V8's as well. But around here you wont be using those plyers to pull any fangs out of vipers http://videos.streetfire.net/video/R...-TT_174129.htm Last edited by Nexus6; 10-23-2008 at 11:39 PM. Reason: added video |

Yeah by converting a 6cyl to F.I. you are certainly going to be able to get the same power that a V8 is capable of and more. I for one am actually a proponent of forced inducted 4cyl and 6cyl engines... The problem with converting a N/A engine however especially A V6 in a Camaro or Mustang with like a twin turbo set-up is that it's going to cost you a lot of $$ and to bring an engine to those kinds of levels is going to require pretty much rebuilding the engine from the block up by re-inforcing the internals, getting a new transmission, and before you know it you're paying 8-10K plus easy if not more. If you have the means then definitely go for it. Unless you really have the know-how and the resources to build a kit from the ground up.
But converting a N/A engine is going to cost you a lot more $ vs upgrading to a V8 Camaro or an engine that is already boosted...

She is in my local f-body club. The car is amazing. We have a track day planned for next weekend and I can't wait to see the car run in person.

Nice to see someone that's willing to take the time to prove what an amazing engine that 3800 Series is. If I recall correctly that's the same engine with a single turbo that was in the GNX and that car kicked butt during it's day. I'd love to see some track footage if that's at all possible. I just got an email back from Mitch at FLP ....$30k kicked me in the stomach. so maybe I'll just build the look and do what little I can to bring mine up to 300hp. When I get my rending of my finished car I'll post up.
