Q. If a non-resident is coming to Illinois to hunt and would like to bring their firearm, how do they legally transport it?

A. Non- residents must be legally eligible to possess or acquire firearms and ammunition in their state of residence. It is recommended that, in order to be in compliance with all statutes, non-residents transport all firearms:

Unloaded, and
Enclosed in a case, and
Not immediately accessible or broken down in a nonfunctioning state.

Q. Is it legal to have ammunition in the case with the firearm?

A. Yes, so long as the firearm is unloaded and properly enclosed in a case.

The USPSA nationals pistol competition is held in Illinois and its no problem having a pistol as long as you comply with the above. Its ashame however, there are 3 states is will NEVER step foot in. Guess which ones they are

I wouldn't go through shitcago no matter what!

LOL...the irony of having the USPSA competition in the most anti-gun state in the union.

I'm not sure we'll have much of a choice but to go through Illinois to get to the fest. I guess I'll just have to lock her up when we drive through.

Just case it and make sure it's unloaded I used to have to deal with this when I crossed the Line from Minn. to Wis. But good OLE GOV. Walker passed Gun Carry law in that state and now i don't have to worry about it

I'd have to move if I did not feel safe on the streets unless I had a loaded piece on me all the time.

I'm really anxious to, but haven't had time.

I've heard it's an absolute blast to shoot. Very accurate and low recoil.

Yeah guys. You gotta lock it in the trunk through IL for sure. They don't make it easy to own guns here.

First, I think everyone agrees this is trajic, and this was easily preventable. Dad is responsible for not properly securing his weapon. Son is a minor and may not be responsible at all. Courts will decide.

As for blaming this on NRA for blocking legislation that would have prevented this, I think that is a stretch. Most times NRA fights because these feel good proposals often erode the rights of other citizens.
PM me with your thoughts... I want to be well informed when something does get put up for a vote...

There's a big sticky at the top of the Off-Topic forums about not getting into politics or religion. While I don't think her post was ill intentioned at all, it could've opened up a can of worms. I'm sure that's why it was deleted.

I'm sure I'll have a 1911 at some point...you'll have to help me decide which one.

Here's a pic of the one I got from you the other day, and we'll keep the other one (or two) for a surprise (for now).

My daily carry is the PM40. Awesome little gun and well suited for conceal carry. I would encourage anyone looking for a pocket carry pistol to look at the Kahr. And I guess now they have a less expensive version of the PM series. My understanding is that the internals are the same...just minor cosmetic differences to make the price a little lower.

Love the .40 caliber round. I chose the PM9 because I didn't have a 9mm. My .40 is the HK P2000SK.

The CM is definitely a good option, and the differences aren't that substantial.
