Yesterday I got to add a new toy to my collection. I was looking on line at at www.CollectorsFirearms.com. They are a store here in Houston. She is Swedish so I showed her a 1896 6.5 Swedish caliber rifle produced for the Swedish military, by Mauser Werke in 1899. It is an all matching serial numbers Mauser built in 1899.

She saw it and said lets go! One hour later I have my first C&R gun. Below are pictures of the actual gun.

Has anyone ever shot one of these? I am going to the range this week with it.

Nice rifle, I have a 1883 Snider rifle which I inherited when my father passed away. It has been sitting around for 26 years, so recently I got courious about it orgin and did some research. Snider was taken over by Enfield Rifle Co. of England. The rifle was used in several wars in Europe & Africia. Will Post pictures.

Cool. I would love to see it.

I am really getting into the C&R type guns and think I might start a collection. These older guns have a history that the new guns don't, and that is a big part of the fun.

When I was there, they also had a great Swedish built Luger 9mm style pistol with 6 rounds of original ammo and the original holster. I think it would be cool to start obtaining all of the pre WWII guns that a neutral country like Sweden used to keep from being invaded. They made superior quality guns that were much more accurate from what I have been reading.

Sweden's Army motto is "Neutrality through strength".

Here are some pictures I took, it not the best quality but you kind of get the idea of the Rifle. Its needs some T.L.C. because it has been in the closet for years.

Nice!! I would oil it up a bit, but you don't want to refurbish it. Guns that have been completely restored lose a lot of value.

I love old C&R stuff. Some old goodies out there. I've only had Mosin Nagants as far as C&R goes (who hasnt).

I really want to add a 308WIN bolt rifle to my collection to finish it off. I want something a little different, but quality. Lately I thought it would be really neat to pick up a rifle with iron sights on it factory.

Looking at either a Ruger Gunsite Scout:

http://ruger.com/products/gunsiteScoutRifle/models.html

or a CZ 550FS Mannlicher

I have a CZ 455 American in 22WMR and it's a really nicely made rifle...

http://www.cz-usa.com/products/view/cz-550-fs/

The Mannlicher looks very European but I kinda dig that. It's a very neat change from my cabinet of typical AR's, 870s, and 1911s...

I played with both at the local gun shop. The Ruger is a little more rugged and has double the capacity but not as much character. IDK. lol.

Good friend just bought one. Feels good in the hand. Strangely similar to a fn fiveseven. He loves it....I like it.

But it sounds like what you want is a G27. American version Springfield XD45 micro has me drooling.....

I have one. No complaints here.
They come in a variety of calibers lengths and options.
Do you get your choice when buying an AR?

"people didn't like them." is my guess, backed up with tons of data and baselining of performance.

Never heard of a mass of people not liking the M&P. The Sigma line, on the other hand...

I had one myself. It was 5" Pro Series 9MM, stainless slide. Great gun. Only sold it because I didn't shoot it well and it was way overkill for my needs.

Now my only side arm is my Springfield Armory EMP 9MM.

This was back in 06 that I heard that when I was shopping for a new pistol, tried some researching yesterday to see if I could find what I was talking about. I found a National Rifleman article from back then that stated they had issues with thier weapon at first but when they got another it was GTG. I do remember them giving away the M&P pistols with the AR15s my local gun shop had that deal going on and I remember seeing the advertisements in mags. Like I said though I have never personally shot one, I have had one friend that had one and he didn't like it but he is also a Taurus fan and I am not. I myself am a big fan of Springfield firearms have 2 XDs and a Lightweight operator loaded 1911, also looking into getting a M1A1 scout from them as well. Wasn't trying to bash the S&W guns as I have never shot one of thier autos, I do have a few revolvers from them and no complaints.

fwiw - I am not in love with this M&P 9mm Pro Series, but it works fine for a plastic gun.
On the other hand, I had to fix a SA 1911 that liked to FTF once every two mags. Was even worse with a CMC mag.
It had a burr on the breach face and the ramp needed polish. Now it feeds and fires just fine, but it dents shells more than I like.

Only firearm I have had a BAD experience with was my Taurus Judge Magnum............ went back to Taurus twice before it functioned properly, owned it for over a year before I could fire more than one round through it without the cylinder dislodging from the yoke

Smith & Wesson M/P series is probably one of their best sellers! NEVER heard anything about supposed issues with them. Seems like plenty of Law Enforcement Agancies are switch from Glocks to them, actually.

Over the years we've owned about a dozen Taurus revolvers. Every single one had to be sent back numerous times for issues. The most recent was about 3 years we bought a 357 mag and every time we shot it it had to be sent away for the cylinder sticking after the first round. Every time they said they found the issue and fixed it. After about a year of this and sending it back about 10 times we finally demanded a refund and promised never to buy another Taurus again.

Wow, I had no idea of this sticky...
Here are my currents, and I have to say I am quite envious of several on here. The first is my XD45 and the second my Saiga 12.

Took the new sig to the range today. It shoots great, but the slide doesn't always lock open when it's empty. And the mags hang up just bit. Hopefully will get better when it gets broken in, only shot 100 rounds.
