who ordered 21" wheels? I could not justify $5k for one more inch.

Five grand for wheels that will cost a fifth of that when the aftermarket replicates them. Normally I understand all the decisions GM makes, and agree with them. This one, in my honest opinion, is an option sheerly for people with more money than sense or patience. No offense to anyone.

EDIT: Plus, no performance oriented car should have 21's.

I'll buy after market once I figure out just how much meat will fit inside the rear wheel wells, hoping with offset will be able to get 305's or 315's.

Was thinking, since I am get IMO with Black Rally stripes perhaps in keeping with the Halloween color scheme I'd get these Name: JJ BlackWidow-M.jpg

its not like your paying 5,000 for 1 more inch. you are buying a whole new set of wheels and tires. you get both sets if you buy the 21's. the 21's and you still keep the 20's. its not a trade and 5,000. its not really that bad of a deal concidering 18" factory wheels for a cadillac cost about 800 a piece not including tires. and they are covered under warranty. i havent added them to my order but i am concidering it.

I'm going the other way. I'm getting the smallest wheel available while still being able to sport the big brakes.

I wonder how much of a performance sacrifice the 21's will make? I know the guys running the bigger wheels on other cars (SRT-8s Chargers, etc) run a couple tenths slower at the track on average.

i found this deal 565 for 2 goodyear brand new http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts...1%7C240%3A1318

1165 for a set of 4 staggered http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts...1%7C240%3A1318
i dont know what your getting at?
abd concidering we dont know how much the actual rims cost. i did an average cost of wheels i saw on ebay in 21" and its somewhere around 3,000-4,000 for the rims alone depending on what you want. and thats not getting into the expensive ones like HRE.

The short answer? A big one. More rotating mass in both tire and wheel.

i agree, the sports car shouldnt have 21" look-at-me rims.

but like all 20+ inch rims, its a status item.

so let gamerguy show off the 21" rims to all 100people in a year who will see the car in northern georgia, im sure itll prevent some burnouts =p

but with that said and it has been numerous times, aftermarket will always be cheaper then dealer stock.

What about high quality 21" wheels like HRE, or what I'm looking at, 360 forged? Supposedly these rims are very lightweight and could likely be equal or lighter than the stock 20". Except for the slightly rougher ride due to the smaller tire sidewall, what other negative effect will a 21" wheel like this have?

If you got a lightweight 21 you would be looking at almost 4 grand for the wheels alone.

Man, 21'' are freakin' huge for a Camaro. The smallest a Camaro rim should be is 18'' on the new Camaro, largest 19'' (maybe 20'').

some people like smaller sidewall heighths...big sidewalls make cars look old.....sorry no 55+ series tires for me.
