Switchblade Remote Functions?

Obviously does door locks and trunk. Panic button.... How about to control the windows. What about the sun roof? It would be nice if you could put the windows down without having to go in and turn the key on... It gets hot out here in Nevada and we cant get remote start to run the AC. It would be nice to at least let the hot air out before getting in.... Not that it rains in the desert too often but if it did and the windows (sun roof) was open, wouldn't it be nice if you could close everything with the remote?

We already have express up/down windows. I would think its just a matter of programming the BCM. My 02 Maxima had it and my girls VW does it too. Everyone who gets a manual trans that can't get remote start should ask GM if this can happen?? It may not be a big deal but its the little convience things that make it just that much better...

I've been complaining about this for a while. It'd be so helpful if there was just a little switch on the side of key fobs that controlled all the windows in the car to go up or down. I can't tell you how many times I've left the driver's side window cracked a bit on a hot day, then the crazy-ass weather here in Ohio changes and a massive storm starts and I have to run out to the car, stick the key in the ignition, and roll up the window.

C'mon GM...it's not that hard, is it?

actually, the keyfob is just a signal to the car... so if they were to reprogram the BCM to roll the window down after you push the unlock button 3 times, you would get the feature and not have to add any buttons to the remote... and you'd be able to choose whether or not the windows went down by how many times you pushed the unlock button.

unlock button once = unlock driver's side door
unlock button twice = unlock all doors
unlock button 3 times = unlock all doors and roll windows down

On my 4th gen I used a DEI 530t (power windows module) -- is basically a box with 4 relays-- so that I could do this:

Original function of 4th gen remote:
unlock once: unlocks drivers door
unlock twice (in 3 secs): unlocks both doors
Lock: locks both doors.

Now:
unlock once: unlocks both doors
unlock twice: rolls down both windows automatically (great for a hot day)
lock: locks both doors AND rolls up both windows

It also provided express up/down on both windows (had to add one delay timer, 528t for the psgr window.) cost: $100 parts, $50 install to a friend

The best would be the ability to reprogram, but you can also skin that cat by finding the signals and use a separate module to do it.

My wife's Jetta has the deal where you can put the key in the lock outside the car and make the windows&sunroof close or open. I asked them about just doing it with the remote and they said that in Europe it was available but here there is some BS safety rule that won't let them offer it. I would think with the obstruction detection&backoff that they have now, it should be a non-issue.

When the car is started with the remote, the A/C comes on when 85 degrees or hotter.
Heat comes on 60 or below. My 2500 does the same thing - it's really nice.

I had remote start installed in my truck before I took delivery. It is by Ungo (clarion). It is programable for several functions. As long as A/C is preset, it will operate during remote start mode. I can push a button on it, get out and lock the doors, arm the alarm, and the A/C or heat will operate while the engine is still running. Nice feature when you need to get out for a few minutes and want to keep it cool or warm in the winter and know it will still be there when you come back.

i think he meant he can't get remote start because he's getting a manual - not he can't get A/C with remote start

my current car i just old down the unlok button and it unlucks drivers, then all, then rolls the windows...i really like the sound of RCowens set up tho!!

except u can't get remote window roll-up stock in the US - safety issue, they think u'll cut off a kids head by accident
