This is crazy. How can you auction something off that you don't actually own yet (unless this is a dealer)? And who would bid on something that someone doesn't even have yet?

I think it could be that jack @55 that came on here asking about what the most popular camaro could be so he could sell it for a profit. He's gonna get burned.

Due to the description and options listed, it looks to me like someone ordered it, then stuck it on Ebay to see what he could get for it.

Yeah, but how can he be sure he/she is going to get it and it comes as ordered? I just can't believe eBay would allow an auction like this. And for the idiot that actually wins the auction, I hope that do get burned.

Nah, I think he was referring to another guy who came on here just a few weeks ago to ask the same question.

You've all seen many dealers are asking thousands over MSRP for one of their Camaros from the initial allocations. Other dealers are declining to sell their allocations, as they feel they will be able to get many thousands over MSRP once they have the cars in their showrooms come March and April of 2009.

Please realize that even if all Chevy dealers agreed to sell at MSRP and nothing over, then there would be a huge flood of people doing the very same thing as the individual running that eBay listing. Instead of struggling dealers making a better profit for the few months demand exceeds supply, many opportunists would be purchasing Camaros at MSRP just to be able to re-sell them for thousands over MSRP.

johndoe@optonline.net (i dont remember the first prefix) but optonline.net is a CHEAP ISP service for local users.

frankly if this was legit, it would have a dealership domain name attached, not some BS address.

It's just some private party guy who's ordered and wants to make a buck by selling it once he gets it.

It is $32,606 now, but what I think is worse is that be is demanding payment in one week for a car he admits he can't deliver until march (at best).

Why doesn't the winning bidder just order the car from a dealer. It's a mark up on Ebay and a mark up at the dealer.

If you look closer, one cannot pick it up until march 2010

How much you guys want to bet Ebay gets named in a fraud case. Not as a defendant but as a third party.

ebay has a EULA clause in which they are not liable for a auction, the creator of the post is solely in trouble if it does have ramificiations.

also, selling a car isnt illegal, therefore they couldnt be drug into a lawsuit even if they wanted

They can't avoid being named as a witness however no amount of paper work prevents that. That's all I was saying I wasn't saying they'd be held accountable for the stupidity of the purchaser or the fraudulent behaviour of the seller. It's still not good publicity for them.

Just FYI optonline.net is the primary Cable ISP for the NY tri-state area, not some local cheapo ISP. (Not that I want to defend them, my f-ing cable bill is highway robbery every month). But I have seen local dealers with optonline emails, its not uncommon.

That said... Anyone notice this is the original posters FIRST post. Its likely the guy who posted that stupid ad trying to drum up bids!
