My 1st (and hopefully last) curb scratch

Well today I nicked at curb while parking and I'm not happy to say the least as it’s my first scratch/ding or any sort on my car, is it salvageable? And if so how much am I looking to have to spend to fix it? (And yes I know my car is dirty, but won't be for much longer)

It's very fixable. You just need to find a local shop that can do it. Around here I found a place that would fix it for around $60-80.

Ouch. I feel your pain. My first self induced ding: I stopped for coffee and drove onto the parking lot curb with the nose. The first ding: highway chip to the top of the nose. Luckily a friend runs a paint shop; 100$ to do the whole nose off the frame!

Don't beat yourself up over it...I did the same damn thing!!! It can be fixed without any problem, I just haven't done it yet. And I may not either, because it happend on a very special day for me and it just might serve as a reminder.

thanks, I'm trying to not let it beat me up, but it just sucks because it could have been avoided I just made a stupid mistake. Oh well I guess something was bound to happen to it eventually, now I'll start lookin around for places to fix it.

Hey, I'm all for the reminder, but in that picture, the sidewall looks kind of cut. That's not a good thing. I hope it's just the picture.

Oh congrats on the the special day!!

Yes Sir, it is just in the picture. When I first did it, I didn't see anything. But after I took a few pics of it, I noticed exactly what you pointed out just now. Then I really felt horrible and thoroughly examined it. When I did it's clear there is nothing wrong with the tire.

I'll tell you what though, I'm very happy you took the time to point out your concerns! Under different circumstances, you might have saved my life!!!

I did the same on my 99 SS front wheel. I filed, sanded, and applied clear coat to the area and you could not tell it was damaged unless you got real close to it.
Hopefully I won't have the same experience with my 2010 SS.

Yeah I did the same thing twice. Once wasnt good enough I guess. It really isn't very noticable, no one has ever mentioned it. I am thinking I probably wont do anything about it.

just did the same thing today on my lunch break and my damage is worse than that...pisses me off so bad.
I was going around a van who was using his wiper fluid and I didnt want to get it on my car since I just detailed it yesterday...I swerved to miss the flying fluid and hit the curb, talk about embarrassing..

Hopefully I can find someone locally to fix it for a reasonable rate.
