cut engine cover without sc?

has anyone tried cutting the center portion out of the engine cover like they do on the magnuson supercharger installs, but installed it on a non supercharged engine?

i can see how the cover traps heat and will heat up the intake manifold... so if the cover was cut to allow the intake to cool but still have all the stuff on the valve covers covered... just wondering what it would look like?

I think you have to buy additional brackets to make it work. I have seen them mentioned on the forum for about $30. I thought about doing this as well. Would be similiar to the Vette look.

Some have cutout the top center of the valve covers and installed expanded metal. Then painted it to match. This lets the heat escape nicely.

I say take it off and leave it off alltogether relocate your coil packs and make it so you can see the valve covers ! im in the process of all that right now its just a matter of where to put the coil packs I was thinking on the fire wall but man that is a long way to travel and a small space

you got to find a mounting place and get longer spark plug wires... i have no idea where to get those (apart from the shitty autozone wires)... post some pictures of your progress.

but i do like the look of the cover just not the idea of heating up the engine... the other choice is covers like ls1 vettes...

When you put expanded metal in it gives you a place to mount emblems and such also.

I cut out the center and added wire. Relocated the heater hoses and removed the turtle shell and foam thing under it. Intake seems much cooler now.

I cut out the RS logo on mine and dressed up the top of the cover. I added LEDs under so the RS glows when I flip a switch.
