turbo or supercharger?

Well I've got it narrowed down to Kennybell or Fastlane Turbo. What do y'all think?

Cant go wrong with either. I say if your all stock to go with the Fastlane kit and if you have already added headers to go with the KB SC.

I guess that is why they say there is an ass for every seat. If you want a top mount blower (PD - Pos Displacement) then why run anything but a Magnuson. It is time and again proven to be perfectly thought out. The fit and finish is great and it can make upwards of 950 crank HP.

As for a turbo, I think everyone here that knows me, knows how I feel about single turbos vs. twin turbos. The single is lazier down low, has less power up top and creates more under hood heat.
As for price, it seems like the twins cost the same as the big singles. That is what makes it even more appealing. Why would you want single? - It can’t be about the money and it can’t be about the performance so that only leaves - what? You like the look of the big turbo hanging off the side of the motor? Don't get me wrong I can respect that but we would have to agree to disagree. - There is just way too much evidence to support the opposite.

We have a 60-plus year track record from winning at Indy to 300 land speed records while owning Paxton Products and so on. We do not promote ourselves very well in that department...That needs to change. I read about other "big name" shops and all the hype...i wonder why Motor Trend forgets to include us in some of thier tuner wars but just go on my mary way. If you want inflated numbers and hype - we are probably not the right shop for that...if you want honest effort and great driveable power - we honor everyone business![/QUOTE]

I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck. I dont want to have to do a whole lot of mods to the motor for now. I would maybe in the future go a little further mand build an LSX but for now this is what i am looking at. Thanks for the input it is all appreciated.

Short drive over to Houston and you're done... I've seen plenty of the Fastlane turbo builds and it's done right.

I plan on the same someday soon..

Personally I would go with a Magna Charger

However if the choice is Kenne Bell Vs Turbo.....TURBO all the way.

Did i read that correctly? The Maggie guy said turbo. I agree except the other way. Twin turbo or Maggie. Not KB.

Why even think of KB when you have a Maggie that does PD right and OE looking.

Why Maggie when you can twin turbo and have stealth like power that is brutal

I am wanting to make about 550H.P.-600H.P. at the tires with my stock motor. I have not seen a maggie do that with 7.5 pounds of boost. On the other hand i also like the turbo because it makes in the same power range. Also i'm looking for someone close to where i live to do the install. I haven't seen any twin setups close to my area but if fastlane would like to try on mine i am willing.

Go with the supercharged route. much less complicated as in nowhere near the plumbing nightmare that quite often comes around with turbo setups. the Maggies are tried to trued by many people on this forum. and there's a reason why.

Send your car to California, it is like 1800 on a truck. 600 at 8psi with a turbo is standard

Well said but it will take more than 7.5 psi to make a real 600 rwhp and added stress on stock block the turbo won't do. Agreeably if all you want is 600 - there are many choices

600 rwhp is easily done on 7.5psi with TVS2300, mild blower cam, and bolt ons.

I really like my single fastlane set up , I have had a great experience with it.
The torque and hp is a blast ,the torque is what i love ,,, grab second at low mph and boil the tires. My set up isn,t lazy, I personally like the turbo sounds over sc.
I think Fastlane won the LSX shootout and the camaro5 shootout. I don,t remember any twin turbo set ups being talked about.
Simple set up no oil pumps no belts just blow and go..........

looks like i'm leaning toward the fastlane turbo set up. I met some guys from the H-Town club and it seems like they seem to like the systems also. It doesn't seem like many people on this site like it. Wish i could get more input on the Kennybell system before i rule it out completely. Thanks again for the info.

Perhaps on a dynojet with "happy" numbers. Thee are ton of dynographs from Magnuson on thier own blower showing 440 auto trans and 460 to 470 M6. So ya jack up the timing, change the cam, and add long tubes plus a custom intake....or.....just add the turbo and nothing else and be done with it

I'm very "happy" with my numbers. 670+rwhp on 8.4psi. It doesn't take a "friendly" dyno to get 600 at 7.5psi with the Maggie. Yes, the turbo will make more per # of boost. I'll take the superior power curve of the cammed Maggie any day. There's no better street friendly F/I application of power to be had IMHO. If you like it there, immediately, it doesn't get any better.
